During the Game Awards 2023 Capcom took the stage for themselves and got the last World Premiere for the day. They announced their next Monster Hunter game called Monster Hunter Wilds!
There it was – the official announcement of Monster Hunter Wilds by Capcom at the Game Awards 2023. It took the spotlight as the last world premiere of the day. Even though the Capcom insider "Dusk Golem" leaked a big announcement for December, I couldn't believe my eyes as I watched the trailer – are we getting a Monster Hunter World and Rise hybrid?
According to the first Monster Hunter Wilds trailer, the game is set for a release in 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. More information will be released in summer 2024 as Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto announced.
With a little bit of luck, Capcom going to show us something new about Monster Hunter Wilds in March 2024, as this marks the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
Monster Hunter Wilds: The Fans Are Already Hyped
After seeing the announcement trailer, the dedicated community is buzzing with excitement for the next installment. The trailer already reveals some exciting elements from Monster Hunter Wilds.
Things we can already see in the short teaser:
- A living and breathing ecosystem
- New creatures and monsters to be hunted
- A mount that lets you glide from high falls and apparently allows weapon swapping on the fly
- Dynamic environments through the weather system — which could possibly hint at Elder Dragon having a greater impact on the world itself
Since Monster Hunter is one of Capcom's most profitable franchise, with Monster Hunter: World being their best-selling game with more than 19 million sold copies, it's likely Monster Hunter Wilds will share similarities with their most successful installment.
