In a recent trailer, we got to meet two new - or rather reworked - Pokémon: Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark.
Remember how in Pokémon Sun and Moon, we had Alolan forms for Pokémon like Vulpix and Ninetales? These kinds of Pokémon will once again return to Pokémon Legends Arceus, the first that have been revealed today being Zorua and Zoroark, Pokémon originally introduced in the fifth generation of Pokémon.
There is an entire trailer showcasing them walking around in the Arceus world, so let's look at that first before we get into detail:
Pokémon Legends Arceus Hisuian Zorua & Zoroark
Hisuian Zorua
Now, I always thought that the original Zorua already looked great. The dark-type fit the aesthetic perfectly. As with the Alolan Pokémon, the Hisuian Zorua changed type and, personally, I feel like it doesn't really fit the aesthetic anymore.
- Zorua Type: Dark
- Hisuian Zorua Type: Normal/Ghost
Looking at Hisuan Zorua rather reminds me of a Fairy-type Pokémon, not a Ghost-type. The description for Hisuian Zorua reads:
These Zorua migrated to the Hisui region after being driven from other lands by humans, who shunned the Pokémon for manifesting uncanny illusions. But the Zorua perished, unable to survive the harsh Hisuian environment and strife with other Pokémon. Their lingering souls were reborn in this Ghost-type form through the power of their malice toward humans and Pokémon.
Now look at the picture above again and tell me that this backstory and type fits the look...
Hisuian Zoroark
Zoroark is a different story, at least in the aspect that the original Zoroark always looked weird, imo. Like, something out of a wanna-be horror movie. The Hisuian Zoroark looks pretty... though I don't know if that was the point, as this is its description:
The spiteful power emitted from Hisuian Zoroark’s long, writhing fur projects terrifying illusions—and can also inflict physical harm upon foes, damaging their bodies from both inside and out. And the illusions that Zoroark projects have expressions of such utter malice toward every last thing upon this world that those who see them are said to be driven mad by the terror.
So, as you can see, both Pokémon will be Ghost-type in Pokémon Legends Arceus. We wonder just how many Hisuian forms we will get with Arceus, but looking back at Pokémon Sun and Moon, we can probably expect a few.
One Pokémon we desperately need another form for though: Eevee!
