id Software is seemingly working on a new entry to either one of their legendary shooter franchises.
A job posting has lead to another leak: id Software is looking for a combat director, that has specific knowledge of Doom. Hmmm... what could they possibly be working on? Quake? Nah seriously, rumor has it that it is Quake, since Doom just got a release, which was meant to be its last, but either way this confirms that id Software is working on something new.
New Doom or Quake Coming
There's a new listing for IdSoftware looking for a combat director with knowledge of Doom and Doom Eternal. Maybe they arent working on Quake https://t.co/D1zeY7nNHP#Xbox #Bethesda pic.twitter.com/nP6ju9TAi1

In case you want to read the full, beefy, job posting, you can do that here. Since Doom Eternal was meant to be the last Doom in the current series, it seems unlikely that id Software is looking to reboot the series already. Though, saying that, it is odd that the job posting does ask for Doom experience so specifically. Maybe we're getting a multiplayer-only Doom? Could be. That, or one of the other leading theories: A new Quake game that takes cues from the latest Doom releases.
Also, there is a rumor that a new Quake was always in the works, and that it's the reason multiplayer was not added to any of the Doom games. Word is, that this Quake game is meant to reboot Quake to former multiplayer glory on all platforms.
In any case, all we can do is spin assumptions – we won't know for sure, until id Software makes an announcement, but given that the job posting is already out there, it shouldn't be too long until we hear more.
