Gwent is one of the better card games out there, and if the stress of multiplayer is too much for you... rejoice: We're getting a standalone single-player Gwent game.
Code-named Project Golden Nekker, Gwent is getting a standalone single-player game that will still release this year. The game is already in development (duh), and is in the hands of CDPR's Gwent team. According to them, the game will be "different" to previous version of Gwent, and a "captivating single-player experience". Then again, what else are they gonna say? 'It's all the same, and boring af'? Nah.
Standalone Gwent Single-Player Game Releasing in 2022
If you're unclear: Standalone means that you don't need any previous Gwent or Witcher games to enjoy this one. You can just get it on your own. Also, if you don't know what Gwent is: It's a trading card game that was part of The Witcher 3, and so popular, that it got its own game. Think Legends of Runeterra, Magic, or Hearthstone, and you're on the right track.
Now, you might be thinking that Gwent will be in The Witcher 4 (which we have some news on) anyway, and also that we have The Witcher Tales, so what's the point of this? Well, here's your answer from the devs themselves:
It’s not another Witcher Tales [game] but something different. We’re aiming to provide a captivating single-player for players who prefer it over competitive multiplayer Gwent.
Along with the announcement, CDPR released some new artwork, which you can see in the tweet below. Since the game is due to release this year, we probably won't have to wait much longer for more news.
