Nintendo Switch 2 Will Apparently Be Powerful Enough To Compete With PS5 & Xbox Series X, Insider Predicts “A Heck Of A Lot” Of Cross-Platform Releases In The Next 12-18 Months

An industry insider, Tom Henderson, is claiming that the Switch 2 will somehow be able to achieve technical parity with the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. He expects many games in the "next 12 to 18 months" will be launched across all three consoles at once.

If current rumors are to be believed, the Switch 2 will be released in late-2024. Very little is known about the console besides the fact that its hardware will be "boosted" by AI thanks to a DLSS-style technology NVIDIA are working on for Nintendo.

An insider/leaker called Tom Henderson has recently made a claim about just how powerful the Switch 2 will be, and we're impressed. Henderson has been correct about quite a few things in the past (although admittedly his track record is far from 100%), and so we feel tentatively confident in the information.

Switch 2 Will Apparently Be Able To Play PS5 & Xbox Series X Games

According to insider Tom Henderson, the Switch 2 will be capable of playing present-gen console games, and so he expects many games to be simultaneously released for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in the coming 12–18 months:

This would be an absolutely incredible achievement from Nintendo if true, and it could see them become even more dominant in the industry. Just imagine if you could play the latest triple-A games on the go via Switch, why would anyone buy a traditional console?

We expect the first official details to be revealed within the next six months. Hopefully they can show this exciting new technology to the public (and hopefully Henderson wasn't exaggerating for that sweet Twitter engagement money).
