It’s kind of crazy to think that the PlayStation 5 has been on the market for over two years now, since November 2020. Kinda doesn’t feel like it, right? That’s mostly due to the global resource shortage, which made the PS5 a rare occurrence in the wild. Have you ever seen one lying around in a store? I sure haven’t!

And still, people lapped up what Sony was cooking. At CES, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan revealed that over 30 million PS5 consoles were sold. Wowza! That’s a lot. And it’s also a good sign for all those, who are still looking for one.

PlayStation 5 Now Available For Everyone, Says Sony Boss

The good Mr. Ryan touted that number during a tech conference. And with the typical bravado of a man who gets paid good money to talk at conferences, he officially declared the console shortage as finished:

"We truly appreciate the support and patience of the PlayStation community as we managed unprecedented demand amid global challenges over the past two years.Everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward."

What good news! You want a PS5? You can get one ! Sort of… there will still be some lingering issues, of course. But it looks like the popular console will now be more available than before, as low a bar to clear as that is.
