Discord is finally on PlayStation! Way back in May 2021, Sony officially announced a new partnership with Discord aimed at bringing the popular service to PlayStation consoles. A potentially effective move in the fight against Microsoft.
Neither Sony nor Discord announced an exact release date for the integration at the time, but in early 2023, Discord finally became available on PS5. But there was one catch: From release, using Discord on a console wasn't really user-friendly, because it could only be used by connecting it to the Discord App on your mobile phone or PC. How To Install Discord On PS5?
Discord will automatically be installed on any PlayStation 5 that tries to use online services from March 8, 2023, onward. You don't need to do anything yourself. If your PlayStation is connected to PSN right now, then you have Discord functionality installed.
The update that included Discord also included stuff for the PSVR2, so it was fairly large as far as system updates go, but still only just above 1 GB. It was deployed globally on March 8, 2023.

How To Use Discord On PlayStation 5: Overview
First thing you will have to do is to link your PlayStation account to your Discord account. Down below, we will explain how to do that in detail, but if your accounts are already linked, you can skip the next step.
Let's get started.
Step 1: Connect Your PlayStation & Discord Accounts
You can very easily connect your PlayStation and Discord accounts, you just need to do a few things on your PC or Mobile, and then a few things on your PS5.
Mobile / PC Instructions
- Sign in to Discord on your mobile or PC.
- Click on the little cog above your name (in the bottom right on mobile or bottom left on PC) to open settings.
- Navigate to “Connections” and press "Add" from the top right.
- Select "PlayStation Network" to be redirected to the Sony sign-in page.
- Follow the instructions there and sign in to your PlayStation account.
- Click "Accept" when Sony ask if you want to link accounts.
- You will be redirected back to Discord.
Console Instructions
Now go to your PlayStation 5 and go to "Settings".
- From here navigate to "Users and Accounts" and then the sub-category "Linked Services".
- Go To "Discord" and choose "Enable".
- You will be given a password and a QR code to scan (there is also a manual link if you don't have your mobile with you to scan the code).
- Enter the password on the Discord page that the QR code sends you to, and your PS5 will be connected.
Congratulations, you've now connected the two accounts, and whichever game you're currently playing will be displayed on your Discord status. You can disable this feature under connections at any time if you wish for your PlayStation activity to remain private. You don't really gain much from having it enabled anyhow.
Now your PlayStation and Discord accounts have been linked, and you can use Discord directly from your PlayStation 5 console.
Step 2: Join A Discord Call On PS5
Thankfully, the latest PS5 update makes joining a Discord call on your console easier than ever, since you no longer have to use your phone or PC to connect to the call.
Now, how do you join a Discord call on PS5?
Don't have any friends? No problem, just join the EarlyGame Discord server, and you'll always find people to play with.
- On your PS5, press the PS button to open the Control Center.
- Navigate to the Game Base and select the Discord tab.
- Choose the Discord server or DM group you want to join from the list.
- Select your preferred voice channel
If another Discord user calls you, you'll receive a notification on your PS5. Select "View Discord Voice Chat" from the notification to join the call immediately. Alternatively, you can select the voice chat card from the Control Center to join the conversation.
