Pokémon Legends Arceus just came out, and yet we're already thinking about Gen 9. Will we get a glimpse of it at the next Pokémon Day?

[Update, February 27]

So, when I wrote this article earlier this week, it was honestly just me pulling something out of my ass. You know how it is with leaks and how speculation is more often than not just that. But not this time. Gen 9 was actually revealed at Pokémon Day and with it, the next games: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

This trailer shows so much already. You might have expected an announcement, but an announcement like this? No way.

They've definitely used Arceus graphics with a bit of improvement, but that brings me to the very next point.

When Will Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Release?

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will release late 2022. Many people seem surprised by this, but like I just said, the trailer looks so much like Arceus, that it's not actually that surprising. Even the Pokémon you see at the very beginning are the same Pokémon that spawn overworld in Arceus. Some of the graphics are improved, like the character design, but a lot looks exactly like Arceus.

Once we know the exact release date, we will update this article.

What Are The Starter Pokémon In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

I love them! | © GameFreak

When I tell you I am in love, I mean it. The three starter Pokémon for Gen 9 look amazing, and we just got their English names:

  • Sprigatito
  • Fuecoco
  • Quaxly

Both Sprigatito and Fuecoco sound like Italian ice cream names, whereas Quaxly is the odd cousin that isn't allowed to sit with them. Nevertheless, all three of them look great (though I am leaning toward taking Sprigatito or Quaxly as my starter more than Fuecoco, not gonna lie).

Once we know the evolutions and more, we will update this article! But for now, let's just all be madly excited about this announcement!

[Original article]

Yes, we literally just got Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl as well as Pokémon Legends Arceus and while Arceus was definitely way better than we had all expected, we're already thinking about the next generation of Pokémon, especially since Arceus barely brought any new ones.

And it's not without reason that we're now thinking about this. The next Pokémon Day is approaching and The Pokémon Company confirmed that they will announce multiple things, including new releases.

In the tweet below, you can see which games will get announcements:

Sure, nothing in this tweet confirms or even hints at gen 9, but The Pokémon Company said that this will be a "special event" and leakers have claimed that a new game will be revealed soon.

However, all of this is so very vague that even reddit (of all the places) told fans to manage their expectations.

Centro leaks RT this, maybe based of eclipse tweet. Keep expectations low and be surprised if any cool things are announced for Pokemon day from PokeLeaks

Honestly, if I were to throw my two cents in here, I'd say that no gen 9 announcement will come the next Pokémon Day. It's still way too early after the last two games (one/two being a remake), to already talk about Generation 9, especially now, when we're not even sure if Pokémon Legends Arceus will get a DLC.

Maybe, toward the end of the year we will get a teaser, but an announcement as soon as February 27? Hardly.
