Before the release, Pokémon Legends: Arceus frankly didn't look like the best game in the world. But it looks like it might be? The reviews are in and they are extremely positive.
Listen, an apology of sorts is due. Before it came out, we were pretty harsh on Pokémon Legends: Arceus. But to be fair, it didn't really look great. It just didn't. But we came around it, when Nintendo finally released some gameplay a few weeks ago and we thought it was pretty cool! But we still didn't believe, that it could be as good as the reviews and ratings are saying it is now...
Is Pokemon Legends: Arceus Actually Amazing?
Apparently yes! The game has got some absolutely incredible scores, since reviews started to come out. Pokémon Legends: Arceus currently has a Metacritic score of 86, based on 41 reviews. That is frankly unbelievable. And yes, the year is not very old, but I think it is still worth to note, that it is the best rated original release of the year. And to be honest, we didn't expect to say that at any point of the year!
Now, as much as I enjoy saying, that Pokémon Legends: Arceus is actually amazing (according to these reviews, we didn't get an early copy, despite our extensive Pokémon coverage), I'm still a bit confused about it. People were excited about it being open-world, however that turned out to not actually be the case. So we must assume, that having a game, that is basically classic Pokemon, but in 3D and with slightly more open and flexible gameplay, must actually be a lot of fun!
This game being so highly rated will probably mean, that Gamefreak will never make a truly great-looking and impressive Pokemon-game, but hey... who is to fault them? These games still sell faster than Beyonce tickets and as long as that stays the case, why should they put more effort in the presentation and production than they have to?
Still, Pokémon Legends: Arceus has us more intrigued than ever after these positive reviews, and we will actually check it out on release date, which is very soon indeed!
