The Sony State of Play was... well, it happened, let's put it that way. Still, there was a gem amongst the rubbish. Let's go digging.
The Sony State of Play was about as good as Sony's latest PS Plus offerings: Straight up doo-doo. For whatever reason, Sony seems to be all about disappointing people these days, and, if that is indeed their mission, they did a great f****ing job with this State of Play. Overall, a couple of games were revealed, with only one being interesting, and another having some potential.
Everything Announced at the Sony State of Play
Deathverse Let It Die
We wrote a separate piece on this one, but essentially this is the Dark Souls battle royale you've either been waiting for, or you couldn't care less about. That, coupled with some Squid Game game-show elements. Yes, this is the game with potential I mentioned above. 2022 release date for Deathverse, coming to PlayStation consoles only.
Bugsnax Update
Seriously, how is this game even a thing? Bugsnax is the most ridiculous, crappiest, LSD-trip nonsense I've seen in a long time, and I'm personally insulted that Sony is keeping this thing alive.
Five Nights at Freddy's
Yup, I'm definitely not gonna play this game, because I do care about getting sleep in 2022. If you're not a little bitch like me, then you can cop the game on December 16, 2021, which is the newly announced release date. Personally, I would've gone for a surprise Halloween release, but hey...: It is what it is.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force
The graphics are a throwback to 2008, and everything else seems like it, too. Still, Star Ocean is capable of delivering RPG-excellence, so we'll give it the benefit of the doubt: Most Star Ocean games were pretty amazing, except for the last crappy 2016 release. Since this one looks more like the older games visually... well, fingers crossed, right? 2022 release date for both PlayStation consoles.
Death's Door
Actually, there's a third good game announced, because Death's Door is amazing and one of the most original games in recent memory. This indie screams originality, and I recommend it to literally everybody. Unless you hate difficult games, in which games... scroll up and play Bugsnax. November 23, for all who want some top-down Dark Souls action with more charm than your mom.
Little Devil Inside
Uhm... you have a job, a top-down overview map, driving, ship mechanics, fishing mechanics, deep combat with some serious weight to it, graphics that change up throughout the game... what's going on here? What is this originality? Why do I smell indie hit and slept on all at once? Why do I get Game of the Year vibes already? Seriously, watch the trailer, because it explains everything better than I ever could. This game looks incredible, but, sadly, doesn't have a release date yet.
