Spider-Man 2 is coming to PS5 very soon and we now know that the game will take around 20 hours to beat, at least for one part of the game. While some can't wait to get their hands on a copy of the game, others are still skeptical about whether the game will be long enough to be worth buying.
After over five years, we're finally getting the sequel Insomniac Games' amazing Spider-Man game. Spider-Man 2 is finally making its way to the PS5 on October 20, 2023, and with each new trailer that's released, the hype is growing ever stronger!
Many things in Spider-Man 2 have just about doubled in size compared to the first game: the amount of Spider-Men, the map size, the ways to travel across New York (swinging and gliding)! But does that mean that the playtime will also be doubled compared to the first game?
Spider-Man 2 Playtime Revealed
Obviously, the exact playtime of any game will depend on just how long you spend exploring, chasing after collectibles or completing side quests. But at least as far as the main story is concerned, Insomniac Games has revealed how long the Spider-Man 2 playtime.
According to Spider-Man 2's creative director Bryan Intihar, in an interview done by Gamesindustry.biz., Spider-Man 2's playtime won't be much different than that of the first game:
I would say it is very comparable to Spider-Man 1. It's not like we've doubled the size of the game. We want to do what is right for the vision, the time and attention you need to create that experience, and also take care of our team.
For those of you that can't quite remember just how long the first game's playtime was, the main storyline took around 15 to 20 hours to complete, so we expect Spider-Man 2 to take around 20 hours as well.
Depending on how many side quests you decide to take on, or if you're the type of player that enjoys playing games to 100% completion, you'll probably get a lot more playtime out of this game, though.
So, while Bryan Intihar playfully added that "It's not a 200-hour game. I would have a lot less hair if it was a 200-hour game", that doesn't mean you won't have plenty to do and explore in Insomniac's version of New York City. And the first reviews of the game confirm that.
According to reviews, Spider-Man 2 has a lot of different side content spread across the big open world. If you're thinking of going for a completionist run, doing all the content the game has to offer besides the main campaign, plan for a playtime of around 35 hours for Spider-Man 2.
