On August 8, 2022, the Tekken 7 Grand Finals Evo 2022 took place. After this event, Bandai Namco, the developer of Tekken, released a new trailer that showed some adjustments to the fight balance. However, the end of the trailer contained a teaser that made Tekken fans happy.

Tekken 8 Teased In New Trailer

The trailer first started showing all the updates that will be implemented in Tekken 7. At the end of a trailer, the iconic Tekken cutscene was shown, in which Kazuya Mishima throws his father Heihachi Mishima off a cliff. To the surprise of fans, something unexpected then followed. At the exact time when the scene zooms in on Kazuya's face, it changes from the 1994 PlayStation version of Kazuya to a very modern looking version of the character. Then "Get Ready" appears on the screen before the trailer fades to black. You can skip to the 1:40 mark in the video below to see the teaser.

Immediately after the trailer's release, a similar post then surfaced on The Games Awards' official Twitter account. Although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, it's very likely that this means a number of Tekken 8 details could be revealed during The Games Awards show this year. Whether the full game, or just a few details will be revealed, however, is still up in the air.

The Tekken World Tour 2022 Global Finals will take place in Amsterdam on February 4 and 5, 2023. So Bandai Namco might also decide to postpone the full reveal until the end of the TWT Global Finals.

It's been more than seven years since Tekken 7 was released. The upcoming update is scheduled for release later this month, on August 17, 2022, for all platforms including PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. But we can all agree that we definitely want a Tekken 8! And as soon as the next teasers show up, we'll let you know.
