It was only a matter of time, but the time is now: Tekken 8 was officially revealed. Here's the trailer
Much like we knew with Street Fighter 6, we knew Tekken 8 was going to happen. It was a classic case of 'it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when'. Well that matter has now been clarified, with an official reveal trailer that screams next-gen and testosterone.
Tekken 8 Trailer
Supposedly the clip is taken from a work-in-progress story mode, so that doesn't mean it's gameplay, but it means that the story mode is at least gonna look stupid good (because you know the story will just be stupid).
Story-wise we expect the uber-dramatic family feud to continue, but it is in the gameplay where the most surprise might await us: Lately, there's been a trend in the FGC to simplify controls. Likely, many games are doing this in anticipation of Riot's upcoming fighting game set in the League of Legends universe, which will defiinitely make use of simpler controls to reel in the huge player base it's expecting. Street Fighter 6 will likely follow suit, so Tekken, which is the king of long combos, endless juggles, and complex movesets, will have a decision to make: Will it stay true to its roots and appeal to the hardcores only, or will it join the fold? We'll find out as more gameplay is revealed, but I gotta say that the FGC future is looking good.
