The Finals Movement Fix: Developers React To Negative Feedback In New Update

After the release of The Final on December 7, 2023, some in the community voiced concerns about the movement feeling clunkier compared to the beta. However, the developers Embark Studios promptly addressed this with a statement and an update. Check out the details below for more on the update and what else the community has to say.

The Finals was just released on December 7, and it's already rocking the charts as the 7th most played game on Steam. This isn't too surprising, considering its success during the beta. The game is finished, enjoyable and looks good. But what's the deal with many complaining about the slower movement after the release compared to the beta?

The Finals: Developer's Statement & New Update React To Player Feedback

The curious thing about all of this is that Embark has not changed anything about the movement itself. The speed is exactly as it was in the beta. But they have a clue about why players might feel this way, as they've tinkered a bit with information, sound, and settings, as mentioned in this Discord statement:

In response, an update was released on Day 2 that tackled the movement feel, among other things. The devs also gave a tip on what you can do to improve the feeling of the movement:

We made changes to movement animations, see if it helps! – Still missing the Closed Beta movement feel: Go to Video Settings and set Field-of-View (FOV) to 90 or higher!

We believe it's a very positive sign that the developers respond to feedback so early and roll up their sleeves to make changes.

Is The Heavy Class Too Overpowered?

People are also complaining here and there about the heavy class stomping too much, just like these comments on YouTube:

Need a serious balance patch for this game.
The heavy class is ridiculous man

Indeed, for newcomers, the heavy class might appear pretty strong with its shields, flamethrower and melee attacks. It's especially annoying when someone who keeps healing is always glued to their back.

But once you get the hang of the game, you'll see that especially the light class has a lot of outplay potential against the heavy and the medium class has it too.

Whether balance changes or a statement will still follow in the near future remains to be seen. The developers openly communicate with the community, though, which is promising.

Despite that, most reviews are very positive, with many folks just being glad that the game came out so soon after the beta.
