With Monster Hunter being around for several years now, it is important to note that you can enjoy the game without ever having played an older game in the franchise before, you will not have a disadvantage. It is designed for everyone to enjoy at their own pace, whether you are a long-time Monster Hunter player, or a newcomer to the series.

As gaming moves from consoles or PCs to playing outside, the team made it clear that the story will have a bunch of straightforward quests all connected under one main storyline. The developer also likes to ensure every player has enough points of interest in the world, no matter where you are based from – and not suffer under the problems Pokemon Go is dealing with.

There will be a mechanic called “Paintball”, which is used to tag monsters you meet outside and take them home with you, so you can determine the time and spot where to battle them. You will also be able to craft and equip weapons and shields to defend yourself from the monsters you encounter.

You can already get a taste for Monster Hunter Now on the official YouTube channel and the detailed animations the devs tried to ensure:

Monster Hunter Now: Monster & Weapons

At release, you can expect up to 13 different species from Monster Hunter Iceborne and previous installments. Some of the most memorable monsters will stand in your way, and franchise-veterans will probably recognize each of them:

  • Great Jagras
  • Kulu-Ya-Ku
  • Pukei-Pukei
  • Barroth
  • Great Girros
  • Tobi-Kadachi
  • Jyuratodus
  • Paolumu
  • Anjanath
  • Rathian
  • Legiana
  • Rathalos
  • Diablos

Well, Diablos is my one and only nemesis. Can't wait to take him down in reality!

With only six different kinds of weapons, we definitely have a limited selection whom we can choose from. But some weapon types aren't suited for a mobile game, as there are some technical limits. Those are the weapons you can select:

  • Sword & Shield
  • Great Sword
  • Long Sword
  • Hammer
  • Light Bowgun
  • Bow

I can't even imagine how Insect Glaive or Switch Axe players would pull off their cool tricks if their weapon types were included on a smartphone. Nevertheless, it's sad, because either Glaive or Dual Blades are my main weapons.
