The dream of an Overwatch 2 PvE Mode is dead. Blizzard has officially announced they're scrapping this much anticipated feature and explain what went wrong.
The Overwatch 2 PvE Mode, a feature that was announced four years ago, is now officially cancelled and will not release for Overwatch 2.
When Blizzard first announced Overwatch 2 in 2019, the hype was all about the new PvE Mode that this game was supposed to feature. Now, fans are more disappointed in Blizzard than ever before. The story mode for Overwatch has been teased for four years, and fans have waited patiently for it.
Even when Blizzard released Overwatch 2 without the PvE mode, they kept on waiting. But now that it's been cancelled completely, fans feel betrayed and let down by Blizzard's broken promises.
trying very hard to think of a reason we needed overwatch "2" now that the PVE dream is dead.i know we were all making jokes about how it was a really just a game update but now... jeez.

Overwatch 2 PvE Mode Cancelled – Blizzard Finally Opens Up About The Truth
Blizzard announced the official cancellation of the highly anticipated PvE mode and has now opened up about their decision in a recent interview with "Gamespot". In the interview, Aaron Keller and Jared Neuss explain what drove them to this decision, what went wrong, and what's next for Overwatch 2.
What Went Wrong
The question on everyone's mind. What has to happen for such plans to be thrown away after so much effort and work? Aaron Keller opened up about what went wrong in the process. Since they had a lot of people working on the PvE Mode, that led to less content produced for the already existing players. There was no new hero for one and a half years, few new events, maps and so on. So while blizzard put its resources into a big project in the future, the already existing game had to suffer a lot.
We all know that the Overwatch hype died around that time in the following years after 2019 and the game had lost a lot of its player base. At least Aaron Keller was being truthful, stating that they came to the conclusion "that this wasn't the right way to be developing for all of Overwatch".
The Future Of Overwatch 2
The good news is that they will not remove the complete PvE aspect from Overwatch 2. Aaron Keller said right at the beginning of the interview that despite everything, there are still some story missions planned for overwatch 2. In Overwatch's newly released roadmap we can see that story missions are planned for season 6, let's see how that turns out. It has become really hard to trust Blizzard's word.
From what Jared Neuss and Aaron Keller have told us so far, they have now set the focus back on the live running game. Blizzard is now steadily producing content for it, including occasional story missions, but definitely not a full on PvE Mode like it was originally intended.
we are definitely not doing the Hero Mode and the talents and that power progression system. ~ Aaron Keller
Fans are furious, since the PvE Mode was teased for such a long time. We all know by now that Blizzard is indispensable without their issues, and there is always another way of disappointing their own players. At this point, it seems like the developers of Overwatch have been lacking a clear vision of their own game, and I really hope that they've learned from their mistakes.
