Warner Bros is reportedly working on a Platform fighter, that will capitalized on all their licenses. Yes, that means Batman, Harry Potter, Scooby-Doo, Lord of the Rings... it's all possible.
[Update, November 18]
Alright, y'all, it's official: Warner Bros is on a blue-balls mission and are out here teasing everybody. They took to Twitter to cheekily ask about the whereabouts of Tom & Jerry, Shaggy, and Bugs Bunny. This goes hand in hand with everything we wrote about below and finally confirms their upcoming fighter Multiversus. Now all we need is a release date. Here are all the recent tweets:

[Original Article]
You can't tell me you never wanted to whoop Harry as Gandalf, or give Scooby-Doo a beating as Batman. We've all been there. We've all thought it. Maybe those thoughts got weird from time to time, I'm not judging. Thing is, now all of that is possible, because Warner Bros sanctioned Multiversus, a platform fighter like Smash Bros and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, that has the license pool to put all other rosters to shame.
First of all, the source of the leak is Reddit, and the leaker claims to be an insider that is putting his job on the line to give us all this juicy gossip. Use however many pinches of salt you deem necessary, but know this: Warner Bros already patented the name Multiversus. Alright... I'm gonna dive head-first into these leaks:
Warner Bros Platform Fighter Multiversus: Roster
- Shaggy (Scooby Doo)
- Gandalf (Lord of the Rings)
- Tom & Jerry
- Batman
- Fred Flinstone
- Mad Max
- Harry Potter & Ron
- Johnny Bravo
The leaker adds that Harry Potter and Ron might not end up being a part of the roster, due to licensing issues.
Warner Bros Platform Fighter Multiversus: Gameplay
There is not much known on the gameplay, only that it seems the game will focus on Tag Team combat. It's unclear whether that's two people playing together, simultaneously, after tagging each other in- and out, or if it's one person controlling two characters. What is clear is that the game will feature custom team moves for each tag-team.
Warner Bros Platform Fighter Multiversus: Release Date
The game currently has nothing even remotely close to a release date, and it could even be more than a year until we hear some more news on this. What we know – or rather what the leaker claims to know – is that this is not the only big Western platform fighter in development. It seems the West is trying to capitalize on the mess that is Smash Bros's commitment to fan-feedback: The Japanese game is seriously lacking in online capabilities, competitive polish and community-engagement, yet still is hugely popular. Western developers now believe to have identified a market with huge potential: The platform fighter. That's the reason Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl came to be, and also the reason for Warner Bros' Multiversus. Also, it seems that two other massive companies are rushing to push out a platform fighter.
This WB platform fighter is real, but it is not a Netherrealm game. Come on. https://t.co/WkMiKf4dTH

Originally, it was rumored that NetherRealm is working on Multiversus, which would've been interesting, since NR is known for the super-violent Mortal Kombat (and Injustice) games, and it'd be hard to imagine Warner Bros would try to push a platform fighter with violence – not with their licenses and such mainstream potential. Still, I'd argue that taking a darker approach to the fighting-genre could be just what sets them apart from the Smash franchise. Besides, they turned Injustice into a gore-fest, despite its expensive licensing, so... maybe... we'll get to fatality Harry Potter as Fred Flinstone. Wouldn't that be a sight?
