Sucker Punch Gives Update on Sly Cooper & Infamous

Sly Cooper and Infamous are two beloved gaming francises, both owned by Sucker Punch, and fans are longing for the games to come back.

Before Sucker Punch struck gold with Ghost of Tsushima, they had struck it with Sly Cooper and Infamous. Actually... scratch that. If Sly Cooper and Infamous are gold, then Ghost of Tsushima is whatever comes after platinum, but that's not a knock on Sly and Infamous - it just goes to show how great Ghost of Tsusima is. Now, that greatness spells doom for all other Sucker Punch IPs, because they have revealed that they have no plans of returning to Sly Cooper and Infamous.

There Will Be No New Sly Cooper or Infamous

I'm gonna be honest here: I personally reported many Sly Cooper rumors, and I was certain the fifth entry was bound to come eventually, and I would've bet on another Infamous too, but... it's not to be. In a statement, Sucker Punch confirmed that there are "no plans" to revisit either of those franchises.

As our games continue to grow in scale and complexity, they require the full attention of our studio. With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper right now, and no other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either. These characters are very special and near and dear to our hearts, so while we’d never say never to re-opening those doors down the road, for now there are no inFAMOUS or Sly Cooper games in development.

Sad times... sad times indeed. They did open a window tough, well... cracked it, because Sucker Punch promises to perform maintenance in the Infamous 2 UGC serves, which will move to a new home to keep them running.

I guess with a return to Sly and Infamous being entirely ruled out, we can assume that the Ghost of Tsushima franchise is only getting started and there will be plenty more to come. I'm not complaining though - I absolutely loved Ghost of Tsushima, as it was my bonafide game of the year when it was released, and for all I care... go full steam ahead with the Ghost.
