Is Project 007 Coming To PC?

Hitman’s IO Interactive is developing the next installment of James Bond for Microsoft Windows and Steam. However, few details have been provided since Project 007 was announced in November 2020. Fans were concerned that an internal cancellation had been underway with Project 007. Fortunately, IO Interactive confirmed their version of James Bond is still being developed.

Everyone expected more information by E3 2022, but that’s changed with the unfortunate cancellation of this yearly exposition. Therefore, nobody knows when IO Interactive will provide their full reveal of Project 007.

Rumors have suggested that the stealth gameplay previously seen throughout IO Interactive’s Hitman franchise is being updated for Project 007. As such, we’re expecting this developer to kick-start the next generation of stealth titles. Other development studios like Ubisoft Toronto will need to consider IO Interactive’s development of Project 007.

Updated gameplay isn’t the exclusive thing to get excited about with Project 007, as IO Interactive has confirmed they are designing an entirely new version of James Bond. We won’t have seen this version in any films within the franchise, and that’s a good thing. It means developers are free to create storylines without confusing fans that watched the movies.

When Is Project 007 Coming To The PC?

Unfortunately, there’s an unlikely chance that IO Interactive will release Project 007 in 2023/24. That’s because this development house is currently recruiting global talents to join their studio and assist in creating Project 007. Therefore, this game shouldn’t arrive until 2025 or later. Nonetheless, it’s still exciting to know that an original version of James Bond is coming.

This is somewhat concerning, as IO Interactive announced Project 007 in 2020. But there were development delays with the Covid-19 pandemic, and IO Interactive needed to ensure that Hitman 3 was released.

IO Interactive is still developing post-content for Hitman 3 as they work towards the conclusion of Agent 47’s story. It’s expected that upon this storyline’s climax, IO Interactive will move 100% of its resources towards Project 007. Until then, they will continue to focus on Hitman 3.

Which PC Features Will Project 007 Have?

As previously mentioned, IO Interactive hasn’t passed the preproduction phase for Project 007. This means we’re four to five years away from experiencing this game, and there’s a good chance that Nvidia/AMD will release two generations of GPUs/CPUs in that time as both companies recover from the pandemic.

We cannot accurately predict the multitude of features that will be included in Project 007, as technological advancements will be made between now and the game's launch date. It’s guaranteed that IO Interactive will take advantage of those GPU/CPU upgrades. Luckily, we know that Project 007 will support these features, as it’s inevitable.

It’s expected that an assortment of other controllers for the PC will be supported, including the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma.

Is Project 007 Coming To The Steam Deck?

Unfortunately, the chances that Project 007 will be supported through the Steam Deck are low. This game won’t launch for three years at the minimum, and there aren’t any guarantees that the Steam Deck will be capable of managing next-generation games in 2025.

Valve could be upgrading their handheld console with a 2nd Gen Steam Deck; if this were to happen based on recent rumors, then Project 007 would be playable on a handheld console. Wouldn’t that be amazing? We think so.
