Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk 2077 Current-Gen Upgrades Delayed

Clearly, CDPR has learned from their fumbling of Cyberpunk - the new-gen upgrades aren't ready, and so they're being delayed. Both wise and disappointing.

Everyone loved CDPR, and then they hated them. Basically, as soon as they saw what Cyberpunk 2077 looked like. Sure, since then they've dealt with some bugs, but it's still a shell of an experience and a lifeless world.

The general consensus you'll hear everywhere - they should have delayed what was clearly an unfinished game. So shouldn't we be proud of them for making this announcement?

Current-Gen Upgrades Delay

On Wednesday, October 20, the devastating news came that CD Projekt Red was going to be forced to delay the next-gen upgrades for both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077:

They don't provide an exact reason, instead stating merely that they have delayed the upgrades on the advice of both respective teams. But there's an obvious subtext to their message, expressed in their final line "we want to make it right". Yep, they want to be the good guys of gaming again, and you can't blame them.

Who knows exactly what's caused these delays, but in both cases, fans seem to agree that it's a good thing. Though the most liked response must have been a hit to the ego for their devs:

If you are struggling this much, maybe you guys should consider being acquired by Xbox or Sony. Cash injection and help from other dev studios. Maybe then you can hit your deadlines, etc.

That's not an idea entirely without merit...
