It seems that horror-themed games are returning to popularity, as announcements made at the SOGF were related to games of fear and tension. We cannot wait for this increase in horror-themed games, but one that pops out is Witchfire from The Astronauts.
Witchfire was initially announced in 2017 for the PC. However, development delays pushed this game back by five years. Sadge.

Is Witchfire Coming Out In 2023?
The Astronauts haven’t provided an official release date for Witchfire. However, these developers have claimed that Witchfire will arrive for PC in Q4 2022. This means we can expect this upcoming RPG anywhere between October 1st to December 31st, 2022.
After five years of development, The Astronauts aren’t expected to announce additional delays for Witchfire. But the release date should have been announced at the Summer Games Fest 2022. Game Setting, Story, And Everything We Know About Witchfire
This first-person shooter is set within the “War Against Witches”. The church will utilize various forms of pagan magic to overcome these witches, and that’s where our protagonist comes in. They will travel toward the Black Sea in search of an ancient artifact. If this artifact can be located, the Holy Roman Empire and Church will stand victorious over their sinister enemies.
Details about the gameplay and combat abilities have been kept under wraps. However, we know there’s a complex magic system that surrounds the four elements. We will combine our gunpowder with earth, water, fire, and air elements. This enables us to gain unique abilities like freezing our enemies with water or decaying them with fire. We even have the option to hurdle enemies outward with a powerful gust of wind, and moves of this nature will allow us to overcome any witch, including the Black Sea’s Queen.
The gameplay in Astronaut’s Witchfire is described similarly to Elden Ring and BioShock. You can see an immediate familiarity with BioShock when viewing the shooting mechanics & magical abilities in Witchfire. We found there were more similarities to Elder Scrolls: Oblivion than Elden Ring, but that’s our personal opinion. Either way, the gameplay appears versatile and exciting.
Is Witchfire Coming To Xbox Series X/S And PC?
Unfortunately, The Astronauts haven’t announced the launch of Witchfire onto the Xbox Series X/S or PS5. This game isn’t slated to arrive for consoles, at least not during its initial release. It is launching to the PC as an exclusive for the Epic Games Store.
This means The Astronauts won’t launch Witchfire onto Steam for a minimum of one year, as exclusivity rights will be held by the Epic Games Store. If you’re interested in Witchfire, we recommend downloading the Epic Games Store and adding this upcoming RPG to your Wishlist.
Is Witchfire Part Of Xbox Game Pass?
