To get Link's Awakening Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you'll have to follow the footsteps of the famous bandit Misko!
The famous bandit Misko left a variety of armor pieces all over Hyrule for cunning adventurers to collect. Link's Awakening Armor is part of his treasure, and to gather it you'll have to solve some riddles – or just skip that and get the solutions right here from us. Whatever you choose, we will can at least tell you where to start your treasure hunt and how to complete it.
Starting Misko's Treasure Of Awakening
To start the quest, you should be equipped with enough heat resistance. Go to the Goronbi River Cave, where you'll be confronted with unbearable heat, so best get some heat-resistant armor and meals. Inside the cave, you'll be greeted by a Horriblin but as soon as you finished it, head to the end of the cave. Tulin can be helpful to cross the lava streams as well as water, to make some rocks to get across them.
After defeating a Fire Like you'll encounter an entrance to another chamber to your right and a chest in it. The chest contains an Ember Shirt, to increase your attacks in hot surroundings, but that's not why you're here. Opening the chest will trigger the wall to your left to open too, and inside this hidden chamber you'll find the first riddle:
On the Tabantha Frontier, where Rayne, Piper, and Tanagar meet, ruined pillars stand together. One of those mighty pillars opens the way to my treasure. Solve my riddle, find my treasure, and earn my respect.
Now you've started the quest and with a look at your map, probably already know where to head next.
Misko's Treasure Of Awakening I
Taking a look at the map shows that Rayne Highlands, Piper Ridge and Tanagar Canyon form a triangle with the Ancient Columns in the middle. If you approach this location from the west, you'll stumble upon a Flame Gleeok which makes an ambitious fight, so if you want to avoid that you could use your paraglider starting from a cliff on the opposite side of the ridge. For this, you'll need enough stamina or potions to help.
- If you're wondering, what's the story behind remnants like the Ancient Columns, take a look at Hyrule Historia
The third way to approach the Ancient Columns is from above: the Ganos Shrine is right above the pillars. If you're falling from the sky, you can easily land on the last pillar to the right, which has a button on top of it you can easily see while falling. If you're not coming from above, you'll have to climb this column. Stepping on this button opens up the cave with an altar with the chest containing the Tunic of Awakening and next to it, the following riddle:
In the ruins of Hyrule Field, where warriors once tested themselves in battle, offer your soldier’s claymore to the two sculpted soldiers. The sword will point the way to my treasures.
This automatically will start the next part of the quest.
Misko's Treasure Of Awakening II
A place in Hyrule Field, where warriors tested themselves, hints obviously to the Coliseum Ruins, located eastwards from the Outskirt Stable. Again, you could also use the Jinodok Shrine up in the South Hyrule Sky Achipelago to drop directly into the Coliseum. Dropping from above could again save you from fighting a Gleeok (though it's a Thunder Gleeok this time) or give you advantage on defeating the beast – it's up to you!
- To get a better understanding of your enemies or potions to help you, you should study The Legend of Zelda Encyclopedia
To get to the location of Misko's second riddle, go south under the slope of the coliseum, where you'll find two statues, on with a Soldier's Claymore in its hands and the other one missing its sword. Use Ultrahand to bring the claymore that lies nearby to the unarmed statue. This will open the entrance to the Coliseum Ruins Cave and the chest with the Awakening Trousers. Again, there's a riddle next to the chest, craved in stone:
On Hyrule Ridge, in Ludfo’s land, ruins sleep beneath the towering mushroom trees. Connect the southern column’s midday shadow to the northern. At the shadow’s center, the way to my treasure will open.
If you're not in a hurry to get the last piece of the Awakening Set, break the boxes on the right side of the chest to get into another chamber with a Bubbulfrog and a bunch of ore.
Misko's Treasure Of Awakening III
Your final destination will be the Thundra Plateau on Hyrule Ridge, if you have unlocked the Taunhiy Shrine you can again jump down from Courage Island in the sky to reach this spot. This time the riddle is pretty clear what you have to do and in order to get the shadows connected cut down at least four of the mushroom trees. As the riddle said, you'll have to wait for midday, so after you connected the four logs build a campfire and rest until noon.
Now it gets a bit tricky; you can climb up the column and hold the log up with Ultrahand or try to place it (not in the middle of the column but at the edges) – but it will probably fall down. For that, and for getting it up, it's pretty useful to combine Ultrahand and Rewind.
It would be best to practice it before noon, because it's only a short time period where it will match. For that, it doesn't matter if it's sunny or not as soon as the shadow of your log touches the other column, the entrance to the Thundra Plateau Cave will open.
Congratulations! With the Mask of Awakening, you now can look like you're a totally out of place mascot of Link running around Hyrule. Although the stats of this set aren't great with +3 for every piece, and it's pretty expensive to upgrade the armor, let's appreciate, that Nintendo gives us the opportunity to collect these sets in game. With skins and gear being sold in DLC packs, it's nice to have this old school vibes. Be curious, do some work, and you'll be rewarded with not necessarily useful but cool stuff.
With two Gleeoks in this quest series, this could come in handy:
