Check Your Inbox: All Your Ubisoft Games Could Get Deleted – Unless You Follow These Easy Steps

Ubisoft can not stop infuriating their player base! A policy in their terms of service may cause players to lose their Ubisoft accounts and all the video games in their possession permanently, should they fail to log into their accounts on a regular basis.

Ubisoft is facing another backlash. After their recent games that did not live up to the quality their fans are used to from previous Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and other series entries, they now face criticism for their account policies. This is specifically regarding their policy about inactivity, which allows them to delete an account permanently if the user does not log in for at least six months.

Ubisoft Cracks Down On Inactive Accounts Using Already Existing Policy

Recently, some fans have complained about permanently losing access to their Ubisoft accounts. This includes users losing access to all the games they purchased via their account. Ubisoft has now provided clarification about why they delete accounts, which has left players pretty unsatisfied.

This is in line with Ubisoft's Terms of Service, which state that an account may be closed if it was inactive for six months with prior notification. Importantly, this clause has existed in their terms of service since at least May 2020, but it seems like Ubisoft is only now starting to crack down on it.

Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft's fans are not happy about this policy. Most players will have spent money on their games and will therefore not want to lose them. Additionally, Ubisoft's customer support's statement that "we certainly do not want you to lose access to your games or account" is received as ingenuine, considering their policy that allows accounts to be deleted due to inactivity in the first place.

Follow These Steps To Make Sure Your Account Will Not Be Deleted

Fortunately, active users of Ubisoft's services will not have to worry about having their accounts deleted, as you need to be inactive for at least six months before your account becomes eligible for closure by Ubisoft themselves. Each login should reset the six-month timer before you get notified about your account closure.

If you tend to ignore your Ubisoft account for extended periods of time, make sure that you receive emails from Ubisoft to an email address that you use very frequently. This will help you react before they delete your account due to inactivity. Even if you receive an email that your account is set to be deleted, you still have 30 days to cancel your account's closure.

Should you have received this dreaded email, all you need to do is to click the 'Cancel Account Closure' link provided in the email to restore it. Keep in mind that you will not be able to use your account until you restore it, even if it has not yet been deleted. You can find more info about this on Ubisoft's Support page.
