Ubisoft's long-awaited pirate adventure "Skull and Bones" faces yet another delay. In a surprising turn of events, Ubisoft has once again hit the brakes on the release of its pirate game, "Skull and Bones." As part of its latest earnings report for the first half of 2023-24, the company announced that Skull and Bones is now expected to set sail into the gaming world in the beginning of 2024.

Skull and Bones, a game that's been in development since 2013, has had more release date changes than a ship in a storm has course corrections. It was first revealed in 2017 with a release date set for fall 2018. But instead of launching the game, Ubisoft decided to play a game of its own – a game of "Let's Delay It Again!". Up until now, Skull and Bones has been delayed six times.

The most recent delay came in January, pushing the release to an ambiguous "early 2023-2024." It was like saying, "We'll release it when it's ready, and who knows when that will be." Now, that vague window has become even vaguer as Ubisoft has announced a new window of "Q4 2023-24," which means sometime between January and March 2024.

Skull and Bones enthusiasts, if there are any left, must be feeling like castaways stranded on Delay Island, with their patience being the only treasure they have left.

The lack of a concrete release date has made the game as elusive as a ghost ship on the high seas. It's hard to be confident about this new release window, especially considering the recent loss of the game's third creative director. The game's history of delay upon delay raises questions about whether it will ever see the light of day. Not to mention, that the last playtest in April has left players kind of disappointed and unsatisfied with the game.
