The wait for the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree has clearly made fans desperate, as a Taylor Swift related theory has gone viral online.

Elden Ring fans had to show a lot of patience while waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree, the game’s big DLC add-on. It was announced in February 2023 with a gorgeous artwork, and that was it. Since then, we heard absolutely nothing about the DLC.

This has clearly done a number on Elden Ring fans, who have now reached some boiling point as a new theory, stating that Taylor Swift’s song “Ivy” contains hidden messages about Shadow of the Erdtree, has gone viral online.

First things first: I know this is a joke, and the reddit post is clearly tagged as “humor”. Still, someone has dug a pretty big rabbit hole here. The post by user u/Jiatao24, titled “Taylor Swift’s “Ivy” Reveals the Release Date and Content of the Elden Ring DLC” is nearly 1000 words long and goes into a staggering amount of detail.

OP has clearly cracked the code, though: Taylor Swift knows something we don’t know, and that is inside info on FromSoftware and the Elden Ring DLC. Looking at it, the connection should have been clear for years, as the first verse of “Ivy” already mentions key phrases from Elden Ring, like ‘tarnished’, and speaks of an ‘incandescent glow’, clearly referencing the Guidance of Grace.

How's one to know?I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bonesIn a faith forgotten landIn from the snowYour touch brought forth an incandescent glowTarnished but so grand

There is a lot more high-school-level lyrical analysis in this post, but let’s get to the juicy part: the release date for the Elden Ring DLC. According to Nostradamus Swift, once “spring breaks loose, the time is near”, and that obviously means that Shadow of the Erdtree will release shortly after spring. For OP, the answer is as clear as the contrails left by Taylor Swift’s private jet: the Elden Ring DLC will release on April 13, 2024.

Of course, that is not much more than a random guess. But great effort! Or, as the top comment under the post put it: "What no dlc does to a mfer".
