We will tell you everything what we know so far about the new upcoming comic adaption "Judge Dredd: Mega-City One".
In "Judge Dredd: Mega-City One," we have a TV series adaptation of the comic series of the same name. This comic was previously brought to the big screen in 1995 with Sylvester Stallone and in 2012 with Karl Urban in the lead role. Now, the enforcer created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra returns to Mega City One, not for a cinematic experience, but this time for episodic adventures, aiming to ensure law and justice in the city.
Sadly, the release date or window wasn't announced by the producers yet. But they confirmed its development.
Judge Dredd: Mega-City One | Plot
"Judge Dredd: Mega City One" immerses viewers in a dystopian world where crime and scum have taken control of the streets of America. This is also the case in Mega-City One, an enormous urban expanse stretching from Boston to Washington, D.C., all the way to New York, where authorities are increasingly reaching their limits.
To address this, the so-called Judges are created, individuals who simultaneously take on the roles of police, jury, and judge. In extreme cases, a Judge can make life-and-death decisions. The titular Dredd is one of them, and he shows no mercy.
Background And Previous Movies/Series
Judge Dredd is a badass comic book character created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra, making his debut in 1977. Nearly two decades later, the iconic law enforcement figure was brought to the big screen for the first time.
Sylvester Stallone, renowned for his roles in Rambo and Rocky, took on the tough cop character in a film directed by Danny Cannon.
This role was later reprised by Karl Urban in the film "Dredd," directed by Pete Travis. The story also featured supporting roles played by Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey, and Domhnall Gleeson. The producers of the new series are open to the possibility of Karl Urban returning to the lead role.
On top of that, there is an animated web series titled "Judge Dredd: Superfiend," also known as Dark Judges. Sadly, the TV series project is no longer actively in development since 2019.
