Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth apparently includes New Game Plus, a feature that games usually just include in the base game, only as a bonus for the expensive special editions.
New Game Plus is in so many games and has been for decades. And by that, I mean that it is usually just included in a game, offering players a chance to go through a finished game again with some extra goodies. Sadly, SEGA seems to have decided to cash in on that fun bonus feature with the upcoming release of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth’s New Game Plus Will Cost You $15
As was first reported by PC Gamer, the New Game+ mode in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth will only be available to players who are buying the Deluxe or Ultimate editions of the game. This was spotted on the game’s official website, where a table comparing the different editions shows that New Game+ is among the bonuses offered to you, if you pay more. A lot more.
The Deluxe Edition of Infinite Wealth costs $85, with the Ultimate Edition asking you for a whopping $110. Both editions grant you a bunch of in-game bonuses, like more outfits, more Sujimon, a bonus dungeon and yeah, New Game+. This is a really strange move by publisher SEGA, which comes off as pretty greedy.
New Game Plus has been a staple in many different kinds of games for years, and no one has ever thought of charging extra for it. Because that would be ridiculous, right? Well, turns out it is pretty damn ridiculous.
It’s a shame that SEGA has decided to lock this popular feature, which, and this can’t be emphasized enough, has always just been part of games out of the box, behind a paywall of at least $15.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth releases on January 26 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S.
