An icon is returning to the 2023 League of Legends World Champions.
T1 just won their fourth World Championship and their first without head coach Kim "kkOma" Jeong-gyun. Now, after years away from the org, kkOma is going to be re-joining the popular League of Legends team.
T1 didn't have the best of luck with coaches since kkOma's departure in 2019, but now he is back and ready to make T1 the number 1 team in 2024 as well.
LoL: T1 Announce Return Of Former Head Coach
One of the most famous League of Legends personalities, that isn't a player, is probably SKT T1's former head coach kkOma, who helped the team win three League of Legends World Championships and establish the SKT dynasty.
In late 2019 he left the org to try his luck elsewhere and throughout the last year he's been a part of KeSpa to help establish the 2023 League of Legends roster for the South Korean national team – that ended up winning gold.
Now, just days after T1 managed to win the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, and player contracts are still up in the air, T1 snagged their former head coach, revealing that kkOma would return in 2024.
T1 has been playing without an official head coach for most of the summer split, after former head coach Bae "Bengi" Seong-woong resigned after T1 went 1-7 during Faker's injury.
This left the team with no official head coach, but Im "Tom" Jae-hyeon stepped up as the interim head coach for the team. Clearly something worked since they won Worlds 2023, right?
It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the T1 roster will shape up, but for now it's clear that the team will be in good hands with their former head coach back.
