JDG almost managed the golden road, only to hit the roadblock of a surging T1. For the 2024 League of Legends season the team is rebuilding around two key members of the team.
JD Gaming was the most dominant League of Legends team of 2023. They almost completed the golden road, something no team has done before, and managed to dominate both domestically, as well as internationally. Now, they're rebuilding their roster, managing to keep two key centerpieces for 2024.
JDG is looking to improve upon their dominant roster in 2024, making sure to keep some of the key puzzle pieces for the next season though and strengthening other sides of the map with new players.
LoL: JDG Re-Sign Ruler and Kanavi
Kanavi has been a part of JDG since 2019, while Ruler joined at the start of the 2023 season. Throughout the 2023 season they were deemed the best jungler and bot laner in the world thanks to their dominant play and many thought they would be unstoppable come Worlds 2023.
Unfortunately, the team did stumble right before the finish line, having to play against T1 who had the best read on the meta throughout Worlds 2023 and innovating it every single match.
Now, heading into the 2024 season, JDG will be rebuilding their roster, keeping the most important puzzle pieces to build their squad around. Those two main pieces are none other than jungler Seo "Kanavi" Jin-hyeok and bot laner Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk.
Top laner Bai "369" Jia-Hao has left the team and JDG also won't be extending their contract with mid laner Zhuo "Knight" Ding for the 2024 season, meaning the team will be looking for a new mid laner and a new top laner.
The jungle and bot lane will stay the same though and they were the true stand-out performers throughout the year. 369 was also one of the best top laners, but he struggled throughout the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.
It'll be interesting to see which players are going to join this star-studded roster to try for another run at the golden road. Of course, there are going to be a lot of other LPL and international teams that will stand in their way though.
