The 2023 League of Legends World Championship is breaking records with it's most popular teams going head-to-head in some of the most hyped and intense matches we've had. This year has seen the clash of giants in the semi-finals.

The most dominant team of 2023 against the most popular team worldwide, of course that would bring in viewers, but to think that it would even break records is mind-boggling and has everyone excited to see how many viewers will tune in for the big Finals event.

LoL Worlds 2023: Global Viewership Breaks Records

Thanks to esports charts, it was already revealed that the semi-final between JDG and T1 was the most viewed semi-final of all time, with a western viewership (as well as AfreecaTV) of over 4-million peak viewers. These numbers do not include Chinese streaming services, though.

On November 15, 2023 the LoL Worlds Finals Media took place and League of Legends caster Isaac "Azael" Cummings-Bentley revealed on Twitter that the semi-final managed over 33-million peak viewers on a global level.

Audiencia máxima de las semifinales del Mundial de LoL 2023:

  • WBG vs BLG: 2,248,721 espectadores en su punto máximo
  • JDG vs T1: 4,308,981 espectadores en su punto máximo

JDG and T1 were the two most popular teams going into the semi-finals and them facing off, with the story lines from MSI 2023, as well as individually from the players, it makes sense that so many viewers tuned in to watch the semi-finals.

While Weibo Gaming and BiliBili Gaming, two Chinese teams, also had high viewership numbers, international rivalries tend to rake in more viewers than domestic rivals facing off against one another. This can be clearly seen with viewership numbers in Spring at MSI 2023, where the most viewed matches were BLG vs T1 and JDG vs T1 and not the grand final between JDG and BLG.

The League of Legends World Championship Finals will take place on November 19, at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul. The games should start at 9 am CET // 12:00 am PT.
