Another Scream actress' returning seems to be on the brink. Jasmin Savoy Brown makes a sobering statement.
The 7th installment of the Scream franchise has already had a rough time, and it doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon. In November of last year, the face of the new Scream series, Melissa Barrera, was fired from the cast due to problematic statements she made on Instagram. Shortly after, her colleague Jenna Ortega also became scarce as the Wednesday star has her hands full with the second season of the popular Netflix series.
But it's not only the new lead roles leaving the production. The OG Final Girl Sydney, played by Neve Campbell, was absent already in Scream VI as the actress was allegedly offered too little pay compared to her male counterparts.
Now another actress made worrying statements about her reappearance.
Jasmin Savoy Brown Doesn't Know What's Going On With Scream VII
I haven't gotten a call. So, I think if you want to ask Spyglass what they're doing, you can... I haven't gotten a call.
Jasmin Savoy Brown, the actress who portrayed Mindy Meeks-Martin in Scream (2022) and its sequel Scream VI, confessed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she has not been in talks with Spyglass, the producers of the new Scream movies.
Despite the radio silence, Brown reminisces about an unforgettable time working on the last two films. She will forever be proud to have been part of a horror film cast featuring four people of color. She wasn't the only one who considered the opportunity to be a part of Scream as an honor.
Scream VII Will Not Be Directed By Christopher Landon Anymore
The originally envisioned director for Scream VII, Christopher Landon, spoke of a dream job he had taken on last year. After Melissa Barrera was removed from the production by Spyglass, he too felt compelled to leave the project, which turned into a "nightmare" for him.
I guess now is as good a time as any to announce I formally exited Scream 7 weeks ago. This will disappoint some and delight others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart did break for everyone involved. Everyone. But it's time to move on. I have nothing

Without a director and actors, it's challenging to produce a film. Currently, no one can say for sure what will happen to the Scream franchise. Several things need to be resolved before we can expect any concrete announcements. The troubles surrounding the remake of the former slasher-revitalizer have truly caused a rollercoaster of emotions. Hopefully, it will have a happy ending.
