3 Body Problem: Netflix Release & Trailer
3 Body Problem is set for a spring release on Netflix, so mark your calendars: the show comes out on March 21, 2024 with eight episodes, each filled with mysteries, catastrophes and the fate of the Earth on the line.
Most importantly, though, there's virtual reality with the neat headset to match (I'm a gamer at heart, after all, so they got me there). But check it out for yourself:
Netflix's 3 Body Problem Cast & Team
We're looking at a pretty big cast with some big names, but starting with the girl who brings it all into motion, we'll see a newcomer in action: Zine Tseng plays the young version of Ye Wenjie with Rosalind Chao covering her older self – yes, we're in multiple timelines, get ready for that!
Adapted for a western audience, Netflix has changed some of the names from the book to fit the international cast of characters in the show, so book readers might need to get used to that first. Regardless, here they are:
- Benedict Wong as Da Shi
- Jess Hong as Jin Cheng
- Jovan Adepo as Saul Durand
- Eiza González as Auggie Salazar
- John Bradley as Jack Rooney
- Alex Sharp as Will Downing
Behind the scenes, we've got some big names as well: David Benioff and D. B. Weiss were tasked with developing the adaptation – and if Game of Thrones taught us anything, it's that they are actually able to create great shows as long as they have the source material. Alexander Woo, probably best known for his work on True Blood, joined the duo in the writing process.
Is 3 Body Problem Going To Be A Multi-Season Show?
Considering that the show is going to be based on a book series, we're pretty confident they won't cram the complete plot in a show with just eight episodes. Chances are Netflix will be adapting the first book (fittingly titled "The Three-Body Problem ") and see how the reception turns out.
If the show turns out to be a success for Netflix, there's more material to work with for potential future seasons: with The Dark Forest and Death's End , the way is already paved for a multi-season sci-fi show.
For now, though, we'll have to wait until March to see how the show turns out. We'll keep you updated on any 3 Body Problem news!
