S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, the game Russian hackers tried to ruin (because the devs are Ukrainian), finally has a release date for late-Summer 2024.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a legendary survival game from 2007. And we're finally getting a sequel, despite the devs behind the game having to work in some of the most difficult conditions imaginable.
The team, GSC Game World, are based in Ukraine, and they've already had Russian hackers leak parts of their project. But it's going to take a hell of a lot more than that to stop them from completing the game.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Release Date Now Officially Confirmed
In a very personal and heart-warming Tweet from the devs over at GSC Game World, we were finally given the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 release date: September 5, 2024.
As they write, they were aiming for Q1 of 2024, but they needed more time for technical polish:
Throughout the frankly challenging development process, we understood the time was of the team's main essence. Seeing the scope of polishing and understanding that we can’t push your patience too much, we were absolutely dedicated to releasing the game in Q1 2024, and we worked extra hard to meet the release window. That, however, doesn’t change the fact that at the beginning of this year, we still witnessed the certain amount of technical imperfections that hold S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 below the expected standards for the final experience our fans are waiting for.
Honestly, given how tough the situation must have been for GSC Game World, we would happily wait another year, so sixth months is fine.
