Ubisoft Rush To Correct Accidental Reveal Of Star Wars Outlaws Release Window By Disney

The Disney Parks website just published a blog announcing everything exciting happening at Disney in 2024. Right near the bottom, after all the exciting Disneyland announcements, they also mention that Star Wars Outlaws will be released in late-2024!

Star Wars Outlaws is the next big Star Wars game. It was revealed in 2023 by Ubisoft and it looks awesome. You'll be an outlaw like Han Solo, free to roam an (apparently) massive open-world, as you smuggle your goods past Empire checkpoints.

We assumed it was coming in 2024 or 2025, but the Parks division of Disney accidentally just confirmed the release window for us. Star Wars Outlaws will indeed release in 2024.

Star Wars Outlaws Release Confirmed In...Disney Parks Blog Post?!

Someone at Disney Parks is responsible for writing a New Year's blog every year. It's basically a series of announcements they post on the Disney Parks website that talks about upcoming attractions. At the bottom of the blog, they also mention a few of the other things happening in the world of Disney, and this year they chose to talk about Star Wars Outlaws.

Now, the person or team behind the blog probably just didn't realize that release windows are important to gamers. It was undoubtedly just an honest mistake to reveal this info. But that won't stop us sharing the good news.

As the blog reveals:

Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world Star Wars game is set to release late this year. The game lets you explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. You can risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. If you’re willing to take the risk, the galaxy is full of opportunity.

Disney Have Removed Release Window From Blog, Ubisoft Claim Date Is Incorrect

Only a few hours after this story broke, Ubisoft swooped in for some damage control. They made a statement to Kotaku claiming that the release window was incorrect, and then they must have called Disney, because the Disney Parks blog no longer mentions a late-2024 release window. Instead, the language has been rephrased to make it clear that they are simply targetinga 2024 release date (not specifically late-2024).

We suspect Ubisoft want to be the ones to reveal the release window, and probably in a much cooler way.
