The GTA 5 source code has just revealed eight planned, but never released DLC for the game.
The complete source code of GTA 5 has been leaked online, uncovering secrets that were never intended to be revealed. Rockstar had initially planned to release a total of eight DLCs, but unfortunately, they never saw the light of day.
Unpublished GTA 5 DLCs Leaked Online
It appears that the source code had surfaced before, but was previously only traded among individuals. Very recently, it made its way online. The unpublished content of GTA is now accessible to people worldwide, providing a glimpse into what the game was originally envisioned to become.

Here's the list of unreleased GTA 5 DLCs:
- SP Assassination Pack
- SP Manhunt Pack
- SP Norman Pack
- Agent Trevor
- Relationship Pack
- Enterprise Pack
- Prologue DLC
- LibertyV DLC
The discovered DLCs feature interesting concepts. While we can't delve into the details here, one of them hinted at a return to Liberty City, a New York-based setting where previous GTA games, especially GTA 4, took place. With this DLC, players might have had the opportunity to explore events preceding GTA 5 and uncover hidden stories.
Despite last year's massive leak of 100 GB of content for GTA 6, including assets, character models, and maps, the significance of this GTA 5 leak might seem diminished. However, it raises the question of whether Rockstar will incorporate past ideas into GTA 6. Perhaps these unreleased DLCs weren't suitable for GTA 5 but could find a perfect fit in the upcoming game.
Why GTA 5 Never Received DLC
Rockstar opted not to release any DLCs for GTA 5 for several reasons. In 2017, they disclosed why:
- The GTA 5 storyline was already concluded, leaving little room for additional content. The game was considered perfect as it stood.
- The tremendous success of GTA Online played a significant role. The multiplayer mode generated substantial revenue, needing them to focus on continuous content updates to keep the mode current. (Being a, now retired, GTA online player myself, I am very thankful for that.)
- The release of PS4 and Xbox One right after GTA 5 meant Rockstar had to work on next-gen versions immediately after the game's release.
In retrospect, many aren't disappointed about the absence of DLCs since Rockstar had valid reasons. The emphasis on GTA Online brought about substantial content, satisfying players. However, there's a possibility that the unreleased DLC ideas might resurface in GTA 6. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until 2025 for the game's release.
