Netflix's Wednesday apparently gets an extended universe too, focusing on another iconic member of the Addams Family – Uncle Fester. There are reportedly plans to give him his very own spin-off.
While we're waiting for Wednesday second season, Netflix is reportedly exploring other Addams Family members, starting with the iconic Uncle Fester. According to Deadline, a spin-off about the bizarre and somewhat mad, yet absolutely Wednesday-adoring Uncle Fester is in early development at Netflix.
Uncle Fester originally wasn't even Wednesday's uncle, but great-uncle. Originally, he was Gomez Addams' uncle – the family bonds changed in recent adaptations, making him Gomez' brother, though.
In Netflix's Wednesday, Uncle Fester quickly became a fan-favorite, not only for his eccentric behavior, but also for his literally life-saving abilities and helping hand (I'm not even sorry for that pun). Fred Armisen not only played him splendidly, but could now also return for his very own show.
Uncle Fester Spin-Off At Netflix – What We Know So Far
Before you get too excited, though, keep in mind: the spin-off is in early development and there are lots of things that could still go wrong at this point. For that reason, there's no plot, cast or release expectation to report – it may very well never see the light of day.
Uncle Fester would make for a good protagonist in a spin-off, though. Not only are there countless shenanigans to get up to with his ability to generate electricity, his whole persona is basically pre-destined for a humorous spin-off.
Previous Addams Family adaptations even explored his rather unusual love life, so his various pursuits (that are more often than not hilarious) could be one plot point to focus on in a potential spin-off.
At this point, that's all just speculation though. As soon as there are updates about the Uncle Fester spin-off, you can be sure you'll hear about it from us!
