Azir and Orianna are two iconic League of Legends champions that have made it back into the top tier of the rankings in the mid lane this World Championship. Orianna is probably the most contested pick for the role, but what should players pick into the strong late game mage?

Well, one champion many have attempted to make work is Azir, but throughout the World Championship it seems that he hasn't been up to par, with an abysmal win rate of 2-10.

The only player who has been able to perform on Azir against Orianna, and the only oen to squeak out wins against her, has been none other than T1's mid laner Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok who is known as one of the best Azir players in the world.

Looking at game stats from the World Championship, this mid lane duo has faced off a total of 12 times. Out of those 12 games only two have been victorious for Azir, while Orianna has the clear upper hand with 10 wins.

In T1's Swiss Stage best-of-three series against BLG, Faker pulled out Azir in one of the matches while BLG's Zeng "Yagao" Qi played Orianna. This was the first victory for Azir in the match up.

During the quarter-finals, Faker once again picked Azir into Orianna against LNG and got one win for the champion.

So it seems like teams and players are going to have to find some other counter to Orianna, because clearly the Azir isn't a good answer into Orianna's late game damage, her insane shielding and great laning. Unless your name is Faker, of course.
