FIFA is now EA FC... But it's very much still the same game. Here is everything we know about the next FIFA game, EA FC 25, which will probably launch in September or early-October of this year.
EA FC 24 won't be remembered as one of the best FIFA games of all time, but it certainly wasn't a bad game, especially given it was EA's first attempt at making a game without the organisation FIFA behind it. And thanks to the immense popularity of FUT, it continues to make EA millions every single day (which is how they're funding the Battlefield Battle Royale, because BF2042 certainly isn't).
It therefore goes without saying that EA will continue the franchise this year with EA Sports FC 25. And as with all FIFA games, we expect it will launch in either September or October.
The game has not been officially announced yet, but we can already make some predictions based on the recent history of FIFA. We've already been able to find a number of promising early leaks and exciting announcements.
After their split from EA was made public, FIFA President Gianni Infantino promised gamers back in 2022 that eventually FIFA would make their own game to compete with FC. This game has not materialized, and there has been no official update on its development, if it even is being developed.
EA Sports FC 25: News & Rumors We've Heard So Far About FIFA 25
Bundesliga & Bundesliga 2 Confirmed: DFL & EA Renew Partnership Until 2027
On January 18, 2024, the DFL officially announced that they had extended their partnership with EA until 2027:
The Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will thus remain an integral part of the popular EA SPORTS FC video game series – the only football simulator that authentically presents the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 including all 36 clubs, all players and the German Supercup.
Fantastic news for German fans of EA FC! However, please bear in mind that this probably does not give EA the right to use Bayern's Allianz Arena. So far, the club had an exclusive deal with Konami's eFootball series. It is unclear, whether this contract will still be ongoing by the time EA FC 25 comes out.
New 5v5 Mode Rumored, Probably For Clubs
On February 26, 2024, FIFA leaker "FUTZONEFIFA" claimed that a new 5v5 mode is coming to EA FC 25, probably for Clubs:
EXCL A 5v5 FC MODE IS IN THE WORKS for FC 25 - Most likely for clubs as far as I am aware. (Not similar to VOLTA) pic.twitter.com/p3pJ2fFKBD
— FUTZone - EA SPORTS FC News (@FUTZONEFIFA) February 26, 2024
We have not heard about this mode from any other source, and so for now it's very much just a rumor.
EA Sports FC 25: Estimated Release Window
We are 99% certain that EA FC 25 will be released on either the last Friday of September or the first Friday of October, later this year. This has been the case for every FIFA game since FIFA 17 (which was released on a Tuesday). We can't think of any reason why EA would change this release schedule.
You can normally begin pre-ordering the game from July or August.
One-Week Early Access Likely With Ultimate Edition
When it was still called FIFA, EA offered three-day early access to those who bought the Ultimate Edition. However, when it became EA FC, they increased this to a full week of early access.
We therefore think it's likely that EA will once again offer one week early access to those who buy the Ultimate Edition. This means that you can likely begin playing from the penultimate Friday in September, if you're willing to pay more.
EA Sports FC 25: When Do We Expect The Game Will Be Announced?
Historically speaking, EA like to announce new FIFA games in June or July with an official reveal trailer. We expect that EA will reveal EA Sports FC 25 in the same way, with a trailer uploaded to their YouTube channel in early-Summer. The trailer will likely give us some indication of the cover star as well.
Before that first official announcement trailer for FC 25, we might also see individual teams or players teasing their involvement with the game. For instance, in November 2023, Tottenham's TikTok account posted a video of what appeared to be Son Heung-min having face scans taken, presumably for FC 25.
That's everything we know about EA FC 25/FIFA 25 so far, but you can expect more news soon. Stay tuned!
