The most recent release in Honkai Star Rail is the Galaxy Ranger Acheron, and despite being one of the most powerful DPS units already, many players are still hesitant to pull for her.
Acheron has been one of the most hyped characters for a pretty long time, probably mainly because of her striking resemblance to Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd and her flashy abilities!
Now, that her banner is finally live, many players are still a little unsure about as if they really want to spend all their hard-earned Stellar Jade for Acheron? Especially because the myth that she is really unsuitable for free-to-play accounts still hangs over her! — But is that really the truth?

Following the leaks of her abilities and Eidolons, Acheron became one of the most adored pre-release characters ever, but it wouldn’t take long, until players pointed out, that she looked awfully expensive to have. The two main reasons for that, is her Light Cone and second Eidolon.
Many were to believe, that her signature Light Cone isn’t something optional to have, but rather a necessity in order to make her work! The same goes for her E2, which mainly allows for more team building options!

#1 Amazing Teammates
If you take a closer look at which team Acheron would feel most comfortable in, you can clearly see how free-to-play friendly she can be, as long as you take her need for at least two other Nihility characters into consideration. Based on the units, you can get completely for free in the course of the main story, the Fire Trailblazer is actually one of her best friends of all time! (Synergy-wise of course …)
Next to that, another super affordable support, being Pela, works almost a little too well with Acheron too! Last but not least, you can add in a Guinaifen into the mix as well for a little spice! If you don't care about her second stage of “The Abyss” bonus ability, you can also skip Gui for another support like Tingyun, Bronya or Sparkle if you happen to have her!
#2 Light Cone Choice
As I already mentioned,many players are concerned that Acheron won't deal enough damage without her signature Light Cone!
While it's true, that her overall damage does increase with “Along the Passing Shore”, it doesn't mean that she is useless without it! The only issue which is actually true, is that there are only two actually good 4-Star weapons for her, being “Good Night and Sleep well” and “Fermata”! However, if you happen to get this Light Cone at some point in the game, you are basically set up for success with your Acheron!
#3 Long Term Value
When deciding who to pull for in Honkai Star Rail, you should always take the bigger picture into consideration and ask yourself how will the character may perform in a year from now on or if they will be power crept immediately.
In Acheron's case, it's pretty obvious how she and her kit will age as time goes on, and new characters release: She will stay an amazing CRIT focused main DPS unit. Even though her abilities have super long texts, after you understood her kit and what matters most when playing her, Acheron is one of the easiest characters in the entire game.
Next to that, she will work great with every future debuffers HoYoverse releases, and her team options are just getting bigger and bigger! You can already throw Acheron into many team comps and make her work, even with much less investment than you would need for a Kafka or Jing Yuan, for example!
Acheron brings a ton of value to any free to play account and is most definitely worth your Stellar Jade if you are in need of a good Lightning unit! Personally, I enjoy playing her a lot as well, and it's fun to try her out with various teammates!
