The Chosen Season 4 has a few hiccups yet to overcome, but creator Dallas Jenkins thankfully gave fans an update in April. Finally, we know when and where to watch the upcoming season of The Chosen.
If you have wondered why The Chosen Season 4 isn't on the App, we've got all the answers for you: the why, the future plans and even more as Dallas Jenkins has updated viewers on the upcoming continuation.
For those unfamiliar with the series: "The Chosen" is a multi-season television drama series created, directed, and co-written by Dallas Jenkins. The show is centered on the life of Jesus Christ, emphasizing his ministry and the people he met. The show seeks to present Jesus in a genuine and approachable manner, delving into his interactions with his disciples and those in his life.
The show is notable for its unique distribution model. Instead of airing on traditional television networks, The Chosen's first three seasons are available for streaming through its own app and website. This approach allows the creators to maintain creative control and reach a global audience directly.
The app also includes behind-the-scenes content, commentary, and other supplementary materials. If you prefer, you can also watch the show on classic streaming platforms like Netflix, Peacock or Prime Video.
When Does The Chosen Season 4 Release For Streaming?
It's been a while since we've got an update on the upcoming season, but on April 21, Dallas Jenkins announced the news on a livestream. According to him, The Chosen Season 4 will be released in four to seven weeks (late-May 2024).
That means The Chosen Season 4 should be able to stream as soon as late May. The season got a theatrical release before, but for legal reasons, the streaming release takes some more time than viewers are used to.
Other than waiting for The Chosen Season 4 to become streamable, there are only two other ways to watch new episodes at the moment: free screenings in churches and prisons.
He also shared some more news regarding future seasons. According to Jenkins, season 5 is already being filmed in Utah. The Chosen is still on track for its seven-season run.
If you're curious which events the fourth season is going to cover, here's the official synopsis:
Clashing kingdoms. Rival rulers. The enemies of Jesus close in while His followers struggle to keep up, leaving him to carry the burden alone. Threatened by the reality of Jesus’ growing influence, religious leaders do the unthinkable—ally with their Roman oppressors. As the seeds of betrayal are planted and opposition to Jesus’ message turns violent, he’s left with no alternative but demand his followers rise up.
In the new season, there are multiple important events coming to the screens, including "the death of John the Baptist and the raising of Lazarus from the dead" as Jenkins told USA Today.
We'll keep you updated as soon there is an official release date for The Chosen Season 4.
