The new Arena mode in League of Legends definitely brought up some fun and, more or less, fair comps and strategies. The true strength of most OP picks, however, is only revealed once they found their partner in crime.
Even if the new game mode “Arena” isn't your cup of tea, there are certainly some comps, which will guarantee a lot of fun! — At least for you, not your opponent. That goes without saying, doesn't it?
However, one of these dream couples has now been torn apart by Riot. And the community doesn’t seem particularly sad about it!
Hopefully, they will never bring it back …
LoL Arena Mode: Community Rejoices After OP Pick Is Disabled
Have you ever encountered Alistar or Poppy while battling it out in the Arena? Everyone who did, surely knows the pain that comes with these picks, especially when they are paired up against you since that means: Knock ups for days!
Apparently the outcry of the community has been heard, since Riot suddenly discovered a bug with one of the two champs. This led to Alistair being temporarily removed from the Arena mode for an indefinite period of time!
Check out the Tweet yourself if you won't believe us:

One perma-ban less to worry about, at least for a little while.
Goodbye Alistar: What Made Him So OP?
As mentioned earlier, the famous Alistar / Poppy comp, terrorized the Arena since its release in June 2023. The sheer amount of Crowd Control and HP-stacking made this duo one of the most annoying things to play against.
And even without his partner in crime, Alistar performed exceptionally well with other Hyper Carries like Vayne or Tristana for example, since he could endlessly peel for them, making sure they put out the most DPS possible.
But even for this mighty Minotaur, the amount of damage he managed to tank on the battlefield in the Arena didn’t quite add up, since players described him as nearly “immortal”. Riot caught up on this and discovered a bug within Alistar's ultimate, which seems to have led to his outstanding performance. At the moment, they are trying to fix this issue, making this champ a little more balanced.
Right before Alistar got disabled, he had one of the highest ban rates out of all champions, making him the second most popular support for this mode, right after Taric, who is undoubtedly broken anyway.
Let's see if he continues to be super annoying after his fix and if the old comps will still be as OP as they are right now!
