Riot's newest champ Briar is already being teased to players. But what does the teaser show us?
It seems as though Riot is teasing the release of their next champ, Briar. You may have already stumbled upon a new tab on the LoL client home page titled "forbidden".
Not only is the name tempting, but the image hidden behind it should pique your interest as well.
LoL Briar: Riot Reveals First Teaser For New Champion
At first, it seems as though all we're getting is this picture of a dark prison or perhaps a dungeon, which looks really cool, but we can't interact with it at all, or so it seems at first.
After you open the "forbidden" tab, you can hear chains rattling, but also someone – whistling? Well, whoever is whistling this eerie tune, they stop as soon as you click on the door at the end of the hallway.
Now, according to RiotAugust on Reddit, this forbidden tab just "seems like a bug". Nice try RiotAugust, we know that you're one of the designers behind the new champ Briar, you can't fool us with your clever lies.
Possible New Champ Lore
We already know that Briar is a 2000-year-old vampire, and thanks to leaked audio files from SkinSpotlights on Twitter, we could already assume previously that she lives in some type of medieval castle.
Thanks to these audio files and previous leaks, we can pretty safely assume that this picture is hinting at Briar's release.
But it looks as though Briar might not be living in this castle voluntarily, like we might have first assumed. It seems as though Briar is being held captive, but why?
Well, this could all be a part of Briar's lore, and perhaps this ties into her play style. We already know that Briar will go "hungry" when playing her, which will unlock a completely new and different character than Briar's usual self.
So maybe Briar is being imprisoned to keep that hangry side of her hidden away, to ensure the safety of others?
Who knows, maybe the whistling is coming from Briar's "other self", trying to lure us to her with a false sense of security.
Maybe we'll even get to hear this same eerie melody whenever Briar is roaming around the jungle.
Either way, we'll have to wait for the other teasers in order to find out more about Briar and when she will actually be released into League of Legends. Maybe our next teaser will show Briar breaking out of her prison?
