Team fights will last longer in the coming future, with some big changes to durability. Finally, Riot is tackling the power creep issue in League.
League of Legends has had quite the power creep problem in recent times. Team fights ended in seconds, and you won't know who or what killed you. The game has lost all sense of reason and comprehension for many players, and because of that, Riot is finally stepping in and doing something about the huge amounts of damage in the game.
In a recent dev post, the League team went over what exactly they're going to be changing and when the changes will hit the rift. So let's quickly go over what Riot is implementing in League of Legends Patch 12.10.
More Durability In League of Legends
The League of Legends devs will be adding stats across the board for each and every single champion. Yes, you read that right. While damage will stay as is, champions are going to have the following aspects increased in their kits in Patch 12.10:
- Base Health
- Health per Level
- Armor per Level
- Magic Resist per Level
While tons of damage can be fun and exciting, we believe that increasing champions’ defensive stats will be beneficial for letting players showcase their skill by giving them more opportunities for counterplay and to live out their high moments.
Every single champion is going to be getting some durability buffs in League of Legends Patch 12.10, but, of course, this isn't going to be the be-all and end-all of the durability update. Players should still be able to burst down champions and utilize their whole kits to deal damage, which is why in the patches following 12.10, expect more changes to durability to follow, specifically for certain champions that could feel too strong or too weak.
Will Burst Champions Still Be Able To One-Shot You?
If you main burst mages or assassin's then you know just how satisfying it is to see your opponent's health bar go from 100 to 0 in the blink of an eye, right? What doesn't feel great though is that you only have to use half of your kit at times. That makes it boring and doesn't bring out the best in your favorite champion, right?
Therefore, Riot wants to land the durability changes in such a spot that you'll still be able to burst down your opposing champion, especially squishy caries that are out of position, but you'll have to use everything in your kit to get the kill.
High burst champions doing reasonably well should still be able to 100-0 squishy champions with their full kit if they succeeded in passing their core skill test. If these champions are extremely ahead (multiple levels and/or thousands of gold), then we think it is reasonable for them to kill a champion with only part of their kit
More Changes After Durability Update
Not only will you feel an increase in durability, but Riot is also targeting a few other problems that come with the amount of damage in the game. The Summoner's Rift Team mentioned healing, as well as mana cost and neutral objectives also getting changed in the future as well.
One of the proposed changes could be for objectives, for example towers, to deal more damage as well. Why? Because the champs are going to be more durable, so objectives will have to be made a tad more powerful as well to compensate for this dynamic change.
The dev team also wants to have scaling champions actually scale into the late game, giving them a chance to become as strong as they're meant to be. Champions like Azir, Kog'Maw and Twitch, thank you.
