LoL Patch 13.7 isn't even out yet, but some of the changes could have a huge impact on the meta, especially the upcoming Mid-Season Invitational. Will these Grievous Wounds updates affect pro play?
LoL Patch 13.7 is set to release on April 6, 2023 and with it, we are getting some much needed nerfs to champions like Zeri and Annie who have been dominating the pro-scene, but there are also some sneaky changes that could have an effect not only on the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational, but also your own solo queue experience.
Grievous Wounds has been one of the most hotly discussed topics going into LoL Season 13. Riot has made some strides to try and even out healing and anti-healing in the last few patches, but bruisers and tanks continue to dominate the game. Will these Grievous Wounds changes make a difference?
LoL Patch 13.7: Grievous Wounds Changes Will Affect ADC Champions
Recently, Riot outlined the full changes they've got planned for the next League of Legends patch and while most are talking about buffs to Yasuo, or the nerfs to Zeri, some have completely overlooked how the update to Grievous Wounds could affect the meta.
- To be able to play at the highest level, you'll need the best gear. I've had the Omen Encoder for a while now and love the keyboard for an affordable price as well!
Until now, players could circumvent the effect of Grievous Wounds by getting shielded. Well, for certain items, Riot is looking to make some changes to this effect, meaning that Grievous Wounds can now be applied even onto shielded targets.
Will K'Sante's shield be useless after these changes?
These are the items Riot is focusing on in LoL Patch 13.7:
- Oblivion Orb
- Morellonomicon
- Chemtech Putrifier
- Executioner's Calling
- Mortal Reminder
- Chempunk Chainsword
Many players on Reddit have found that this update could change the meta, especially for bot laners who want to have their big moments in teamfights. They will have to play a little smarter in the future, calculating whether a big fight is worth it due to the chance of having their lifesteal and healing from allies like the newest support Milio reduced.
100 Thieves bot laner and League of Legends pro, Doublelift, went to Reddit to voice his opinion on the changes and explained that while the changes could have an effect on players in the laning phase, teamfights won't be much of an issue, since ADC's won't be worrying about a shield before going into a fight.
Whether these changes will truly have no effect, or only minimal, or change how players have to go into fights will be determined once the changes go live in LoL Patch 13.7. With MSI 2023 just around the corner, the first big international tournament of the year, fans will likely be able to gauge the state of the meta pretty well.
