We're gonna talk about some of the worst champions and skins that can really bug colorblind players.
Playing League of Legends can get tough, and it's even tougher for folks who struggle with distinguishing certain colors due to colorblindness. With the abundance of skins and champions in League, some can be a real headache. And even the latest Winterblessed Hwei isn't an exception.
However, I'll be talking mainly about red-green colorblindness because it's more common than the other types.
Worst Skins for Colorblind Players
Zombie Brand
Well, surprise, surprise, we're kicking things off with a green skin: Zombie Brand. It's an OG skin and a true classic. Overall, it's an awesome skin with some cool animations and an epic dance move that pays homage to Michael Jackson. Truly iconic.
But here's the kicker: Even though this might be one of the best Brand skins out there, it's likely one of the worst for colorblind folks. All of his abilities are literally green, and they blend together seamlessly, making it tough to tell them apart visually. Plus, the fact that Brand himself is all green doesn't help either.
Elementalist Lux (Nature)
Next in the lineup, guess what? Yep, you got it, another green skin! But seriously, folks. Elementalist Lux takes the crown as the best Ultimate skin in LoL, featuring a massive collection of 10 different forms in one skin, including a nature-themed version.
Just like Brand, when Elementalist Lux is in her nature form, she practically merges with the Summoner's Rift environment, making it a real challenge to spot her casting animations. And to add to the mix, all of her abilities, except her R, are projectiles that she can toss from quite a distance. This makes it even trickier for colorblind players to differentiate between her Q, W, and E spells.
Infernal Vel'Koz
The Infernal skin collection has some fantastic fiery skins, and Infernal Vel'Koz is definitely one of the highlights.
Similar to Elementalist Lux, his basic abilities all seem kinda similar because they're all ranged spells with a similar animation. This can pose a real challenge for people who are colorblind, especially when he's using multiple spells together.
Now, even though it's a skin with a red theme, it doesn't provide much contrast for folks with red-green colorblindness, as those colors tend to look pretty similar to them anyway.
On the other hand, even those of us without colorblindness might have a tough time distinguishing between the previously mentioned skins. But that's not a problem with skins like Infernal Vel'Koz, which mix things up with different colors.
Default Skin Nightmares
Singed
Now, let's dive into the world of the quirky chemist from Zaun. This time, the issue isn't with Singed himself but rather the green color of his abilities.
When it comes to clashing with his opponents, his activated poison ability, Q, is absolutely essential. And we all know one of the oldest rules in the League of Legends book: "Never chase a Singed." But imagine this scenario – he's making a mad dash with just a small percentage of his HP left, you're hot on his heels, and then WHAM! Suddenly, you're dead, all because you couldn't spot his Q ability throughout the chase due to your colorblindness.
Now, I'm not saying that you'll drop like a stone the moment you step into his poison cloud. But there's no denying that it's incredibly frustrating to deal with, especially when you're grappling with colorblindness on top of everything else.
Zyra
Last but not least, let's chat about "the lady made of plants," or at least that's how Milio likes to describe her. She's a unique blend of plant and human, using her environment to her advantage. But similar to Singed, the problem isn't really with Zyra herself, as she leans more toward a pinkish color than green.
The issue crops up with her abilities, and she might just be the most challenging in this department. Zyra deploys vines, thorns, and seeds to tangle with her enemies. The twist? Riot had this bright idea to seamlessly weave her abilities into the Summoner's Rift environment.
Now, don't get me wrong! From a lore perspective, it totally makes sense. However, when it comes to gameplay, it's not just a headache for colorblind folks but also for those with regular vision.
These could very well be some of the most problematic skins and champions for people with red-green colorblindness, according to some friends of mine. You can definitely use these insights to your advantage in ranked games or just have a laugh with your pals. But hey, let's keep it cool and not be toxic! I'm no expert in colorblindness, so please share your thoughts in the comments below if you agree or disagree with this list!
