Everybody jump atop the Udyr hype train as it takes off and rides down the river on Summoner's Rift and right into your home. Seriously, the wait has been long enough. But are there any other buffs and nerfs in LoL Patch 12.16 that we need to know about?

Let's take a look at Patch 12.16 and all the upcoming changes Riot has outlined on the PBE already. Which champions are getting updated, and which champions will receive some more love from Riot as well? Let's jump into the next LoL patch right away!

LoL Patch 12.16: Big Changes To Udyr

The Udyr rework is going to be the big news we've been waiting for. Sure, we received Bel'Veth earlier this summer and Nilah was just released as well, but having the Udyr rework go live is just the cherry atop this cake right now. So, what exactly did Riot change on his kit and how much better is he going to be in LoL Patch 12.16?

New Udyr AbilitiesOld Udyr Abilities
P - Bridge Between
  • Awakened Spirit: Instead of a traditional ultimate, Udyr has four basic abilities that swap between stances. The champion can re-cast his stance during its cooldown to Awaken it, refreshing it with bonus effects.
  • Monk Training: After using an Ability, Udyr’s next two attacks within four seconds gain 30% increased attack speed and refund 5% of Awaken’s cooldown on hit.
P - Monkey's Agility
  • Udyr gains stacking Move Speed and Attack Speed after using an Ability. Udyr has four basic Abilities that he may use to swap between Stances. Changing Stances immediately ends both the passive and the on-hit portion of the previous Stance.
Q - Wilding Claw
  • Wilding Stance: Udyr gains 25% attack speed for four seconds. His next two attacks in this stance maul the target to deal a bonus of 3.2% max health physical damage.
  • Awaken: Grants 34% additional attack speed. During this time, Udy’rs next two attacks call lightning to strike six times, each dealing up to 10.6% max health magic damage to isolated targets.
Q - Tiger Stance
  • Tiger Stance: Activation - Udyr's Attack Speed is increased for a few seconds.
  • Persistent Effect - Udyr's first attack and every third attack after will deal a high amount of damage over 2 seconds.
W - Iron Mantle
  • Mantle Stance: Udyr gains 63 shield for four seconds. His next two attacks in this stance additionally gain 10% life steal and restore 12 health on hit.
  • Awaken: Shield increased to 178, and Udyr regenerates 89 over four seconds. Stance Life on hit and life steal bonuses doubled during this time.
W - Turtle Stance
  • Turtle Stance: Activation - Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs damage.
  • Persistent Effect - Udyr's first attack and every third attack after heals him for 2.5% of his maximum health.
E - Blazing Stampede
  • Stampede Stance: Udyr gains 30% move speed, decaying over four seconds. Additionally, Udyr’s attacks in this stance lunge at and stun targets for .75 seconds. This effect has a six-second cooldown on each target.
  • Awaken: Grants immunity to immobilizing and disabling effects and an additional 32% move speed for 1.5 seconds.
E - Bear Stance
  • Bear Stance: Activation - Udyr increases Move Speed for a short duration.
  • Persistent Effect - Udyr's basic attacks stun his target for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for several seconds.
R - Wingborne Storm
  • Storm Stance: Udyr surrounds himself in a glacial storm for four seconds that deals 20 magic damage per second to nearby enemies inside and slows them by 15%. Udyr’s next two attacks in this stance deal 14 magic damage to enemies in the storm.
  • Awaken: Unleash the storm, causing it to seek a nearby. [Sic] Deals an additional 9.4% max health damage over the remainder of its duration.
R - Phoenix Stance
  • Phoenix Stance: Activation - Udyr unleashes pulsing waves of fire, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
  • Persistent Effect - Udyr's first attack and every third attack after engulfs enemies in front of him with flames.

These are the new abilities compared to his old ones. Doesn't this just look and feel much better for Udyr? There are going to be so many different ways to build him and play him. Go full AP? Sure, you can also use an attack speed and tank mix build to truly have fun and make your opponent's life hell. So many options.

New Mythic Shop Rotation

We are also going to be getting some new skins in the mythic shop. Two new prestige skins, as well as a new mythic chroma will be released. The next mythic chroma is going to be for Battle Academia Ezreal, but the mythic skins of the mythic rotation still aren't known, so we will have to wait and be surprised.

Fizz Visual Update

If you thought that the only update you would get in LoL Patch 12.16 was going to be Udyr, then you're gravely mistaken. Fizz is also going to be getting a visual update for which players are able to give feedback already on the official PBE Subreddit.

Basically, this update is going to improve Fizz' visuals and make his abilities much clearer. He is one of the older champions in the game, and especially some of his older skins will need to be completely overhauled. This visual update is a rather small one compared to other updates, aligning with the Syndra or Vel'Koz updates we've had before.

LoL Patch 12.16: Buffs And Nerfs

This patch is the first one geared towards the upcoming League of Legends World Championship. While it will still be used for some regions in their playoffs, Riot is holding off on making any huge adjustments just yet, though. Expect more changes for pro-play in the next Patch 12.17.

All Champion and System Buffs

Everyone, this is not a drill, but our boy Malphite will be receiving some buffs in the upcoming patch. Will he finally rise to be the OP Worlds pick? He's already got a World's skin, so it would only be fair for him to be useful, right? But there are more champions on the buff list than our rocky friend.

In Patch 12.15, both Thresh and Leona got buffed and now Evenshroud is also receiving a little boost? Seems like we're looking at tank support meta once more for this League of Legends World Championship, eh?

All Champion and System Nerfs

The Diana 'nerf' isn't a nerf per se, but Riot is trying to dissuade tank builds on the jungle champion and are therefore nerfing tank Diana builds, while encouraging AP Diana builds more.

Champion/SystemChanges
ZeriUltrashock Laser (W)
  • Damage: 8/11/14/17/20 (+ 105/110/115/120/125% AD) (+60% AP) --> 8/11/14/17/20 (+ 100/105/110/115/120% AD) (+60% AP)

Lunar Rush (E)

  • AP Ratio: 45% --> 50%

Are our eyes deceiving us once more? Another Zeri nerf? Yup. She is a nightmare to balance for the Riot team when it comes to pro-play while she just completely sucks in solo queue. Do we smell a rework coming soon?

Various ARAM Adjustments in LoL Patch 12.16

If you enjoy playing ARAM, then you'll also want to know that Riot is making some changes to items and champions in ARAM as well. Multiple items are being adjusted in ARAM, while some champions are also going to receive some updates in this specific game mode

  • Guardian's Orb Buff: AP 40 --> 50
  • Guardian's Hammer Nerf: Lifesteal 10% --> 7%

There will be more ARAM changes in LoL Patch 12.16, but Riot will outline those in their upcoming Patch notes.

Steel Valkyrie Skins in LoL Patch 12.16

We also cannot forget about the upcoming League of Legends skins. We will be going to the Steel Valkyrie universe once more. Yes, this isn't the first time in 2022 we are receiving skins from this alternate world. Renata Glasc, who was released earlier in Season 12 also got a skin in this universe and now more skins will follow.

  • Cyber Halo Janna
  • Prestige Cyber Halo Janna
  • Armored Titan Nasus
  • Strike Paladin Lucian
  • Strike Commander Camille

This is another sci-fi skin for Lucian. The man cannot escape the futuristic Blade Runner-esque skins, but they do fit him. Hopefully, Riot can find something new for the man next time he gets a skin because this concept is just not working for him anymore.

The Nasus skin also looks more like Jax, with many fans confused whether this was Mecha Kingdoms Jax or rather Nasus, but the Janna skin is very pretty. While these skins didn't seem to manage to woo the fans, we do have hope for the upcoming Neon Inferno skins.
