It’s already been two weeks since the last patch? Time sure flies. We’re halfway through February, and the LEC and LCS are in a tight race to find out who will make it to the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational. Will we finally get to have a crowd at an event again this year?

Enough daydreaming, though, we’re here to check out the upcoming League of Legends patch. This is going to be an insane patch, with the release of our newest favorite support champion — Renata Glasc. She is the first anti-carry support champion and we love her already! But what else is new this patch?

Renata Glasc Released in LoL Patch 12.4

Renata Glasc has been released onto the rift! As mentioned, she is considered an anti-carry, which just means she’s a champion that doesn’t carry the game by dishing out a whole lot of damage, but simply by turning the carries onto themselves.

Her passive also means that she is better played with another champion, which makes her perfect for the support position, but before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s check out all the abilities Renata has:

Abilities

Effect
Passive - LeverageRenata Glasc’s basic attacks mark her enemies and deal bonus damage. Damage from Renata’s allies consumes the mark, dealing additional damage.
Q - HandshakeRenata Glasc sends out a missile from her robotic arm that roots the first enemy hit. She can reactivate the ability to throw the enemy in a target direction, damaging enemies hit and stunning them if the thrown target is a champion.
W - BailoutRenata Glasc grants an allied champion or herself ramping Attack Speed and Move Speed toward enemies. If the ally gets a takedown on an enemy champion, the buff duration resets. If the ally would die while Bailout is still active, their health is set back to full but they begin burning to death over 3 seconds. The ally can stop the burn by getting a champion takedown before they die.
E - Loyalty ProgramRenata Glasc sends out chemtech rockets that shield allies and damage and slow enemies they pass through. The rockets also apply their effects around her on cast and in an explosion at max range.
R - Hostile TakeoverRenata Glasc sends out a cloud of chemicals that causes enemies to go Berserk, increasing their Attack Speed and forcing them to basic attack anything around them. Berserk enemies prioritize attacking their own allies, then neutral units, then Renata Glasc's team, then Renata Glasc herself.

Sounds pretty fun, right? The last support we got was Rell and most players forgot of her existence only two weeks after her release, so having such a memorable and unique champion, with a whole new type of Crowd Control is extremely exciting.

Dr. Mundo Nerfs in LoL Patch 12.4

Dr. Mundo has not had the best time in the top lane… at least for any Dr. Mundo in high elo. Low elo Dr. Mundo is thriving, which is why Riot has made the executive decision to nerf the poor guy. Is this the first change heading his way though?

Not exactly. We know, that the current state he’s in, isn’t one Riot wants to leave him in. They will be making more changes in the future. For now, they’re just patching up a few issues with the pick who has a negative win rate in high elo, but sports an almost 53% in low elo.

Zeri Mini Rework in Patch 12.4

Zeri is another new champion and what we’ve learned from Riot releasing ADCs in the last two years, is that they’re usually pretty OP. So of course, Riot had to nerf Zeri again, but in this patch they went all out, going over every single ability and nerfing it in some shape of form.

Zeri deals both AD and AP, so the ratios on both of those were cut short, some of the slows in her kit were changed, as well as, multiple cooldowns. For a full list, check out our previous Buffs and Nerfs article.

Support Item Changes in Patch 12.4

Janna in the top lane has broken League of Legends. Now, Riot is tackling the problem, but are they doing it the right way or is this just a face-value change to make it seem like they’re doing something to fix this issue? Let’s check out what Riot has decided to do in this patch.

  • Gold Value Bounties: Gold value bounties (a.k.a. CS bounties) are now based on the number of support gold income items on each team, rather than assuming each team has one support gold income item
  • Obective Bounties: Enemy gold leads are now significantly less likely to lead to Objective Bounties activating if there are two or more support gold income items on your team
  • Tribute/Spoils of War (Passive) - Minion Farming Penalty: Receive diminishing gold from excessive (4 minions per minute) ⇒ (2 minions per minute until 5 minutes; 4 minions per minute thereafter) minion kills. This diminished gold penalty is now also more severe during the first 5 minutes of the game. (All else unchanged)

Skins Released in LoL patch 12.4

Renata Glasc has received her first skin, which is part of the Steel Valkyries skin line. If you don’t know what that skin line is about, it’s the same one that Bullet Angel Kai’Sa is from! But of course, Renata Glasc isn’t the only one getting a new skin.

Brand new Shockblade skins have also been added:

  • Shockblade Qiyana
  • Shockblade Kassadin
  • Shockblade Zed

Also, the pushed back Firelight Ekko will be released for 1350 RP. Originally, the skin was going to be released in Patch 12.1 with Rek’Sai and Gnar, but due to complaints from the community, the skin was pushed back and additional homeguards and SFX were added to make the skin worth it’s price.

Brave Phoenix Xayah Prestige Edition, will also be released with this patch. Those are some of the biggest changes that will impact your League of Legends experience. Are you excited for Renata Glasc? Or are you still waiting for the upcoming Void Jungler that Riot has promised us?
