League of Legends: Has Buying Accounts Become Social Norm?

Smurf accounts are nothing new in LoL. Players do believe though that it's just way too easy to buy new accounts these days.

Making a smurf account is extremely easy in League of Legends. Players are also able to hold multiple accounts at the same time, something that a lot of players have been complaining about throughout the last few seasons, with smurfs becoming more and more problematic.

It isn't just that the players behind the game are the issue, but just the ease with which players can get their hands on smurf accounts is way too easy.

LoL Players Think Smurf Accounts Are Too Prominent

A smurf account in League of Legends is a secondary or alternate account created by a player who already has an established main account. The purpose of a smurf account is to play games at a lower skill level than their main account, usually in order to dominate matches and achieve an easy victory.

Smurf accounts are often used to either practice new champions or strategies without risking their main account's rank, or to purposely exploit the matchmaking system by facing less experienced opponents. While smurfing is not officially supported by the game, it has become a common practice among players.

Unfortunately, most players use smurf accounts for the latter of the two reasons, with them wanting to play their usual champions with greater ease, since they'll face lower level players.

Those players also don't care about the repercussions of them being toxic, since this won't have any effect on their main account and therefore, they can be as toxic as they wish without a secon thought.

The issue though isn't just the toxicity that comes with surf accounts, but also with how easy it is to even get your hands on these accounts. Leveling bots run rampant in the practice environment of the AI matches, where people level up accounts with bots to then sell these fresh level 30 accounts for pocket change.

Due to these accounts being so cheap, it's extremely easy for players to get a new level 30 account to hop into ranked with.

With so many smurfs in the lower elos, it's hard for actual new players to get into the game, with them getting stomped left right and center, and anyone else stuck in Silver is also going to have a bad time playing against, or even with, these players.
