The LCS has kicked off their season on June 14, 2023 with some exciting games. Meanwhile, the LCK and LPL have already their first set of games under their belt, the Asian leagues having started much earlier than the LCS or LEC. Now, Riot has come out with a ruling, causing one team to pay a fine. Not only that but their coach was also suspended.

This isn't the first time that a team will have to pay a fine for using an item or a rune that had been disallowed though, some players forgetting key information in the heat of the moment, thus costing their team though.

KT Rolster will have to fork over ₩2,000,000 after their bot laner Kim "Aiming" Ha-ram purchased a disabled item during the team's second game of the 2023 LCK Summer Split against Gen.G. The item in question is none other than the newly added Statikk Shiv, which is currently not available in the LCK.

Teams in the league had been informed that the item was not to be purchased, even if it is available in the item shop. According to Kevin Kim, the LCK committee looked into the case, and judged that Aiming unintentionally bought the item.

Now the org will have to pay up for the mistake of their bot laner. At the current conversion rate, ₩2,000,000 is around $1,560. Now this isn't a huge fine. Along with the fine, KT Rolster was also issued a warning.

KT Rolster Head Coach Suspended

But it isn't just a fine that KT will have to pay up, but their coach Kang "Hirai" Dong-hoon has also been suspended for two weeks.

According to Kevin Kim, this is due to the way the team's head coach conducted himself in front of the referees. During a pause he was found to have used inappropriate language. According to sources he did go and apologize to the referee after the series, hence why the punishment is a 2-week suspension.

KT Rolster currently sits in fifth place of the LCK with a 1-1 record. Their next game will be June 16 against the 2022 League of Legends World Champions, DRX.
