We've known about the upcoming Star Guardian event for a while, but now Riot has finally released some details for the event.
We have been waiting for this event for a while now, and finally, it's becoming a reality. Leaked skins galore have gotten us hyped for the continuation of the magical girl genre in League of Legends, and finally, we're getting new Star Guardian skins.
Riot has just released a short trailer, which brings us back to Valoran City where nostalgia hits hard, but what can we expect from the Star Guardian event and what skins are we going to receive? Let's check out the details we know thus far.
When Will the Star Guardian Event Take Place?
The Star Guardian Event is going to star on July 14, 2022 according to the official twitter post by Riot Games. This means that in League of Legends Patch 12.13 the event will start. Until then, you will have to finish your Ocean Song missions, just in case you want the Seraphine Prestige skin.
The event is going to be a 10-week event and will take place on multiple Riot IPs. We already know that Wild Rift is going to be included thanks to the reveal of the Wild Rift exclusive skins, but Legends of Runeterra is also going to feature Star Guardian boards and cards.
Star Guardian Trailer Released
Riot released the trailer for the 2022-Star Guardian event on July 12, 2022. The trailer features a multitude of champions that will be getting Star Guardian skins, many of which have been already revealed by leakers, as well as Riot themselves at Anime Expo earlier in July.
Ultimate Spellbook Announced
In the trailer we see that Ultimate Spellbook will be the game mode of choice for League of Legends players during the Star Guardian event. This has disappointed some fans who thought that Riot could bring back the Star Guardian event from a few years ago instead of just re-using a rotating game mode.
Visual Novel Revealed
In the trailer we also catch a glimpse of a visual novel which players can play through during the event. This will likely be a smaller scale visual novel from the 2021 Sentinels of Light novel players had to go through.
It will feature the story of the new Star Guardians as they try to protect Valoran City from the evil Star Nemesis Morgana and Fiddlesticks. It will also feature the Wild Rift exclusive Star Guardians, Orianna, Senna and Seraphine most likely.
Star Guardian Music Video Announced
Everything Goes On is going to be the song which will be featured in a music video that is set to be released on July 14, 2022. Riot Music worked alongside songwriter and producer Porter Robinson to bring this musical piece to life.
The song tells the story of two Star Guardians, each independently coming to terms with their loss and finding the will to move on with their new comrades.
Charity Event
In the trailer a 'Guardians Give Back' program is announced which will fund the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. You can get orbs and chests made available in LoL Patch 12.13 with proceeds going to a good cause.
The upcoming Star Guardian Taliyah skin, which should be released in LoL Patch 12.14 will also have all of it's proceeds in the first month be added to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.

What Are the New Star Guardian Skins?
According to leakers, there will be a multitude of champions receiving skins throughout this event. Ekko, Sona and Kai'Sa have all been names floating around for a while now, but there are a few other champions you wouldn't have imagined on the list, the biggest surprise being... Fiddlesticks? Yes, according to leakers the scarecrow will be a Star Guardian, or at least part of the universe.

Akali and Kai'Sa will be on the receiving end of legendary skins, with Kai'Sa already having her in-game model leaked months ago.
With so many champions receiving skins, the event is going to at least span over two patches. Two prestige skins will be released, as well as two legendaries, which Riot will likely split up, like they did with the High Noon event earlier this year.
Star Guardian Event Missions
Free Event Missions
You do not have to pick up the Pass or Pass Bundle. There are also a bunch of free missions which you can complete to work your way through the Star Guardian story and pick up rewards along the way. Let's go over all the free missions and their rewards.
To collect the rewards you're going to have to play through a series of chapters, each of which is three acts long. How do you move onto the next missions though? By accumulating Starlight and defeating bosses you'll be able to unlock chapters each week.
How to Get Starlight
By playing games you are able to forge Starlight. Of course, winning will earn you more and having a Star Guardian on your team will also mean you will get more Starlight.

Star Guardian Bond Missions
In the League of Legends client you'll also be wanting to gain a stronger bond with your fellow Star Guardians, so by playing the game. Fulfilling missions will give you bond points and playing with one of the new Star Guardian skins will double the bond rewards, but it's not a must to have the skins to earn all bond points.
